I have a question about the Don't ask, Don't tell policy... If there is a draft, if there is a draft, can I just say, "I'm GAY!" and get out of it? I'm confused here...

Yes, as the law currently stands.

Though I'm sure, if the situation warranted a draft, our dear leaders would have themselves a bit of a re-think.

They're funny like that.

If there is a draft ... "don't ask don't tell" will be history in a SNAP. With the decrease in stigma around being gay, tens of thousands of straight guys would be claiming to be gay to avoid the draft!! Talk about "Queer Nation" that would be us in a matter of weeks after the draft started.

Within days... gay soldiers will suddenly no longer be the huge insurmountable problem that they currently claim

Lets hope it doesn't come to that!

Sadly, Russia already has such a policy ... gays can't serve, except of course in wartime. You can die for us, just don't live among us.

I know they would change policies in a snap, but I can't help but think how funny it would be to finally get to call in queer to work.

Seriously... the one and only thing I had against the whole "Right to Serve" thing was that it can also REALLY work against a lot of people. The thing is, that a lot of people if drafted would just say that they were gay to get out of going to war... and in the long run, it things get changed no one will have that option... we really will be left with leaving the country :o

I know they would change policies in a snap,
That's basically been my gut reaction to it.

But then there's this,
tens of thousands of straight guys would be claiming to be gay to avoid the draft!!

a lot of people if drafted would just say that they were gay to get out of going to war

And then I remember that they're already currently jeopardizing the lives of every man, woman and child in Amercia by firing gay arab translators (et al), and so I think that that point has already arrived.

What if they are that stupid?

I heard on Lou Dobbs the other week that every single member of our army is either currently on leave from Iraq, or in Iraq. Our country is effectively operating WITHOUT AN ARMY.

And instead of letting we "gays" who WANT to help, and are willing to give our lives, they're resorting to those who have criminal backrounds.

Are you sure they're not so stupid as to sanctify their hatred of gays above even their own safety?

~~

I was flip the first time I said this Austin, but I think it's pertinent to my point here:
Obviously the homosexual agenda is responsible for 9/11, have you even read the Pink Swastika?

We've not only been blamed for 9/11, but also the holocaust.

I guess I'm wondering how they could give up their biggest money making claim -- that we are a danger to civilization itself -- without also giving up the bulk of thier political power?

If so, rest assured: neither party in Congress is in a hurry to start a draft. And those who are saber rattling for one- like Charley Rangle from my own state of NY- are doing so as a tactic to wake people up and bring an end to hypocrisy and the war itself.

It ain't gonna happen.

Too many people oppose the war in Iraq.
