I am embarassed to say, as a resident of PA, how out of touch I am with what is going on in my own state (I mean the state that I reside in, not my state of being- LOL). The bill is to create an amendment to the current Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, which protects against discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, ancestry, age, national origin, handicap or disability, education, and use of a guide dog. It would add to this the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression in housing, employment, and public accomodations. Currently, I was surprised to read, there are thirteen PA municipalities that have such LGBT protection in their local civil rights laws. They are Allentown, Easton, Erie County, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lansdowne, New Hope, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, [B]Scranton,Swarthmore, West Chester and York. This bill, HB 1400, has a record 70 co-sponsors. Maybe the tide is finally turning in a positive direction. On my local top music radio station yesterday, this news was the lead story at the top of the hour. I will keep myself informed on this and keep all of you posted.

Step in the right direction ... honestly didn't know Lancaster was on that list of existing protections ... I'm a bit surprised, here in the PA Bible Belt! (We call our part of the state Pennsyltucky.)
