You all here are absolutely amazing. I also participate in another discussion board, which I will not post the link to because it is scary and legalistic, and you are so much better than them. You are so much more mature, you understand, you feel. They don't. If you look at the topics they argue about, it is always the same. They are so infused with hatred, or more fear. Yeah. They fear to lose their status, to be wrong, to have to submit to other views. And contrary to what the nun says in the Death Cab for Cutie song, I'll Follow You Into The Dark, fear is not the heart of love. At least not this fear.

So I just wanted to make known to you all the great level of respect and love I have for you. Words have escaped me, now I feel like writing a poem or something about fear and love and the like. Thank you.

Namaste,

Greg

just out of curiosity; could you tell us if it is a conservative group? for I looked into other forums and had to leave for the absurdities spoken.

This group has individuals of such varied viewpoints that I think it would be hard to give a classification to the group as a whole.

I would say that if you could take an average of all the regular posters, we would come out generally left of center on most things. The Christians dominate numerically, though other religious viewpoints enrich the conversations. The Christians as a whole seem more progressive than conservative, though there are a few like me who claim the title "conservative"( though most hard-line conservatives would not include me in their group.)

Politically also more left than right. More Democrates than Republicans. (We even let choke Republicans in.)
Social issues also more left than right.

That's how I see it.

Tu Amigo, Pablo

Yes, this other place, which I am mostly leaving now, is very conservative. According to wikipedia, however, they are one of the most viewed apologetics site on the web. If you want to find it, it goes under the name of "Christian Apologetics Research Ministry." evil lurks there...

Ha! I got suspended for three days from the other board for apparently saying negative things about the website. What I had done, was just say how the website had kicked out universalists. Ironically, they allow satanists, atheists, calvinists, catholics, and a whole host of other views, but universalists are not allowed. oh well. I guess it's a blessing, now not only do I not want to go over there, I don't have to.:)

Oh. :'( There is a tremendous level of negativity there. With a lot of searching I was able to find some posts that were inspiring and devotional, but they are numerically overwhelmed by some of the most extreme negativity I have ever encountered in discussions anywhere. I found almost nothing but anger, despair, judgment and hostility there. Reading there began to make me sick, so I stopped.

Greg - spend your time with those who love you and who reflect positive qualities back to you.

This site is special. A lot has to do with the intentions of its founders - their hearts are loving and their intention is for the good of all - and that is easily detectable. The SF site attracts many very loving souls. It has already been a monumental blessing in my life.

So, ditto what you said earlier about members here.:) I love all our SF friends.:love::love::award::rainbow::earth::dove:

Note: On this very subject, my signature quote of Rumi applies quite well. See below.

Thanks for your message Greg. Your presence here only adds to the word: amazing.

It's an entirely metaphysical statement, but your post reminds me of the phrase: "What you send out comes back to you." Loving actions make for more of the same. And I agree with Zerbie: it has everything to do with intention. In this case, the intention has its roots in the writing, thinking and expression of the founder(s) as well as those who inspired them, Gandhi, King, Jesus, Buddha etc.

And let's not forget our great- and they really are- moderators. The unsung heros of the joint.

They keep the flies out of the soup.

The moderators there are exactly the opposite. They like the flies, but hate the soup. Sadly it is a nice soup, with lots of heart-healthy vegetables and free of any violence-soaked meat.:D

mmmmm... now I want soup....
