Hi all, my name is Nick. I found this website searching google for liberal christianity, read the What the Bible Says section of the website, and was instantly impressed and drawn to the site, so, here I am!

I am an almost 23 yeard old straight man living in the Bay Area of California, and I only recently began to explore Christianity as a truth in my life. I've always been a firm believer in God but more of a poo-pooer of organized religion until discussions with a friend of mine and a lot of soul searching and discussions with the Lord lead me to begin my journey as a Christian. I'm still only marginally familiar with the Bible and with my relationship to Christ but I am learning more the more I seek and I am confident in my growing relationship with Him.

I've been heavily involved with the theatre for as long as I've been able to sing and as such the support of LGBT individuals has always been a near and dear issue to my heart. One of the hardest things for me about reading the Bible is seeing the instances where homosexuality is "presented" negatively, and also hearing all the negativity directed towards the LGBT community by prominent Christian leaders, so to find a place that is a bastion of sanity is wonderful.

I hope finding this community both helps me on my spiritual journey as well as helps me become a better advocate for LGBT rights. Christianity and homosexuality should not be exlcusive states of being, and I'm glad there are like minded individuals out there to help me advocate this fact. I'm glad to be here.

First Welcome,

I can not speak for all, but I find nothing that Jesus said was anti gay. Levticus says a lot of things people and the most pious of all do not practice or follow. I am a Red Letter Christian. (Christ's Words) not to say the Bible is not necessary, but it is a "Mans" writings, so over time it can lose or gain interpretations. That is why we pray for discernment and use the common sense God gave us. I believe that Christianity ans intellect and reason coexist very well; it has allowed me to to see and understand God better. Also my life in Christ is growing leaps and bounds. I have felt warmth, love, and the beauty of the words of the people in this forum from many perspectives. Here you do not have to check your faith in at the door. I have been talking to wondwerful people who faith differs from mine and it has be such a relief that we can just talk and feel a peace with one another. I look forward to seeing you around.

Peace be with you!
Pam
