Started the demoliton in the dining room today. here's a pic of the flocked wallpaper I uncovered. I'm also disappointed that I've not been able to find hot guys in my walls. What is all this talk about studs? I've got nothing but pine 2x4's in my walls.........

I think you need a 'stud finder'.

Hmmm... someday when you're a little older maybe your mommy will explain that to you Steve...

 In the mean time... at least you have people on here... Dash, Daniel, David, Dave(so I hear), and many many more.

Listen to that girrrrll naming all the studs! *notice that andy was missing from the list*

here's some more of what I found today: the outside wall still has the original plaster and beadboard panelling (this was a duplex at one point, so the DR was originally a kitchen, circa 1930?) it is the same aqua green color that is on the beadboard ceiling. this may be a good find, as I may need to replace some of the ceiling boards. these could come in handy!

I have one, but everytime I get close enough to use it ... it starts beeping like crazy. Terrible racket, it starts to vibrate and then overheat. if I put it down and walk away it stops. What do you suppose is wrong with it?

Dunno ... but I had that happen with one, and when I looked more closely at the package, I found I'd bought a DUD detector. Doh.

All I can say is, I'm SO glad you are getting rid of that wallpaper Steve! You are getting rid of it right?

If not...wow, it's lovely! :p

I have this really small think about the size of a hand held pencil sharpener, supposedly to be used to detect studs, just to help decorate my tool box. I really don't have a need for one of those fancy stud detectors....not much interest in studs, sorry!

Although...my GF relayed the story of having to pick up the dead rat out of our office, which apparently the cat killed, and throwing it out. I told her she was such a stud! ;) I would never have touched it!

it's so pretty though, can't I keep it on just one wall? it was a brown flocking with a cream background. it was papered onto the drywall, which was nailed onto firring strips, which had been nailed to the original plaster. the plaster is the old style, with the lath (?) behind it. Behind the lath? oh nothing....not even insulation! I'm soooo gutting that whole room! and I'm nearly halfway done with it. Then I'll get to work on installing all the new stuff.

like what? you ask? well, to start with I'm going to add wall-to-wall floors! that's right, nothing but first class for us! the floors will reach the whole way to the walls! incredibly, the vinyl flooring, as well as the replacement subflooring, does not reach the original walls. they layered so many wall treatments, THEN replaced the floor, that the present flooring doesn't actually reach the original walls.

we've had similar problems with wall paper on the drywall.. but man yours is extreme.

Wow... you're really doing all out... wall-to-wall flooring... I'm impressed!!

I wish I had you, Keltic, to help me with my house. I would help you with yours and you with mine. Deal? I am painting and as luck would have it, my oldest daughter, in a hurry to go see bf, was cajoled into helping me clean out the paint supplies from her room and she dribbled a large swath of primer all over the carpet before I shrieked, "Stop!!!!". Then wife and I had to spend the next 40 minutes scrubbing it all out, but alas, it still shows.

Not much of a lesbian I guess.

BTW, in church Sunday, our pastor was en route to the MCC conference in Scottsdale, AZ, and we had a staff pastor, not a regular, preach for us. He is soft spoken and he said, as we entered worship, "Please turn off your cell phones and vibrators so that no one is disturbed during the service today." Immediately, all the lesbians started snickering as we realized what he said, and the gay men put their hands over their mouths and giggled. The funny thing was he never realized what he said.
