Yes, World Net Daily, otherwise known as THE DEVIL INCARNATE. Sorry, I shouldn't demonize my enemies. Love. *takes deep breath*.
My father recently read an article about Michael Gratze's alleged "orientation change." (ugghh) I read the two articles there, which I don't suggest, and now I want to barf. I decided to write about WND in response.
My first criticism is that they allow their biases to control their essays/writings. Now, I know that all news and media organizations have some bias. They are only human. But WND has NO boundaries whatsoever. Actually they do, they are the boundaries restricting any opinion that disagrees with them. A few months ago they published a completely unscientific article about Soy, claiming that it made men gay and women more straight. The writer was expressing pure opinion (with no scientific backing) about how the phytoestrogens (I think that is what they are called) that are in soy (in extremely small amounts unless isolated) makes men gay. It was ridiculous. I get a podcast from the Christian Vegetarian Association that said that the writer was trying to kill two birds with one stone: vegetarians and gays. It was horrible.
My second criticism is that they never offer opposing viewpoints. I have recently been reading a series called Opposing Viewpoints, which is very helpful. In this series there are differing opinions and articles on various matters. The book on Homosexuality was extremely helpful. It went indepth and provided critical reading/thinking exercises after every chapter. The WND does no such thing. When dealing with pure opinion, such precautions must be made.
My third criticism is that they give no backing to almost every claim they make. They allow for opinions (with no peer review or expert editing) on global warming (obviously against), homosexuality (against), vegetarianism (against), yoga (against), and every other topic under the sun, but almost never give any scientific, historical, or other expert backing.
My last criticism (for now) is that they have virtually no understanding of the Bible. They just don't get it. I realize that I don't really get the whole Bible either, but they really don't get it. They support self defense to such a degree that it may as well be called self offense. They condemn homosexuality with such archaic arguments that they mind as well go shovel emu manure on their faces and run around in circles crying out in an extremely unfashionable manner (which they basically do already).
UGH... I need to rest and not get so angry. The only reason I read their articles is to know what my dad is reading. I feel like I am his parent or something.:D
BTW- They are selling this book on Yoga that made me laugh immensely. It was condemning Yoga saying that all Yoga Practitioners are Hindu Missionaries.:lol::lol: Except they were serious. :'(:'(:'(
I love you all even more.
Namaste,
Greg
