Yes, World Net Daily, otherwise known as THE DEVIL INCARNATE. Sorry, I shouldn't demonize my enemies. Love. *takes deep breath*.

My father recently read an article about Michael Gratze's alleged "orientation change." (ugghh) I read the two articles there, which I don't suggest, and now I want to barf. I decided to write about WND in response.

My first criticism is that they allow their biases to control their essays/writings. Now, I know that all news and media organizations have some bias. They are only human. But WND has NO boundaries whatsoever. Actually they do, they are the boundaries restricting any opinion that disagrees with them. A few months ago they published a completely unscientific article about Soy, claiming that it made men gay and women more straight. The writer was expressing pure opinion (with no scientific backing) about how the phytoestrogens (I think that is what they are called) that are in soy (in extremely small amounts unless isolated) makes men gay. It was ridiculous. I get a podcast from the Christian Vegetarian Association that said that the writer was trying to kill two birds with one stone: vegetarians and gays. It was horrible.

My second criticism is that they never offer opposing viewpoints. I have recently been reading a series called Opposing Viewpoints, which is very helpful. In this series there are differing opinions and articles on various matters. The book on Homosexuality was extremely helpful. It went indepth and provided critical reading/thinking exercises after every chapter. The WND does no such thing. When dealing with pure opinion, such precautions must be made.

My third criticism is that they give no backing to almost every claim they make. They allow for opinions (with no peer review or expert editing) on global warming (obviously against), homosexuality (against), vegetarianism (against), yoga (against), and every other topic under the sun, but almost never give any scientific, historical, or other expert backing.

My last criticism (for now) is that they have virtually no understanding of the Bible. They just don't get it. I realize that I don't really get the whole Bible either, but they really don't get it. They support self defense to such a degree that it may as well be called self offense. They condemn homosexuality with such archaic arguments that they mind as well go shovel emu manure on their faces and run around in circles crying out in an extremely unfashionable manner (which they basically do already).

UGH... I need to rest and not get so angry. The only reason I read their articles is to know what my dad is reading. I feel like I am his parent or something.:D

BTW- They are selling this book on Yoga that made me laugh immensely. It was condemning Yoga saying that all Yoga Practitioners are Hindu Missionaries.:lol::lol: Except they were serious. :'(:'(:'(

I love you all even more.

Namaste,

Greg

I also forgot to say that they want America to be the World's only superpower.

You might enjoy Timothy Kincaid's take on the situation:

I thought this was a gem of wisdom:

I do not know Michael Glatze and perhaps it is unfair to speculate about the motivations for his conversion. Nonetheless, I think I have a guess as to why some, if perhaps not Glatze, find themselves leaving gay activism for anti-gay activism. It is because activism on its own is not fulfilling. And when you face a disappointment – or when you are no longer getting the attention that you once had – bitterness and anger can set in.

Many of us have been fortunate to have been able to craft a life that involves many different components – professionalism, activism, spirituality, friendships, and much more. When we face a disappointment in one area, there are other things for us to do. But unfortunately, I have seen those who build their life around just one aspect, be it work or religion or politics, and when things sour – as they always will – there was no balance to give their life meaning.

And I think too often activists make this mistake. They have no life outside their insular world. There is no religion or faith to give perspective. There is no non-activist friend network, or family backup or other forms of getting away and seeing your life from the outside. And when a blow comes along that shakes your perspectives, there’s no one to turn to who isn’t part of the problem - so instead they turn to that which gives substance and validation to their bitterness and anger.

Here is the link to the article(s) about soy that Greg has referenced above. It is absolutely moronic. Statements like "we have studies" or "studies have shown" but they never list any of the studies or who they were conducted by. This is journalism at its lowest. The insane thing about it people take it as fact. WHY...WHY...WHY??? I just cant believe people are that stupid.

Soy Makes Kids Gay (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53327)

There are several parts to this article. You can read them all from the above link. Try not to vomit on the putrid stench of these "articles".

What I want to know is this. If soy is making people gay then how do you explain homosexuality BEFORE the so called "increased consumption of soy"? How about homosexuality BEFORE soy was even introduced into the US? Explain that one to me.

I know. What makes me sad is that people believe this crap. :'(

antonyh, I just read that article, and it makes complete sense to me. Especially the part about how activists live within their little boxes, and when those fail, they have nothing to turn to but Exodus.

I never realized how helpful boxturtle was. It's amazing.
