I had a very interesting phone conversation today. A little intro first. My father and I are opening up a music store here locally, hopefully to be open by the first of August. Anyway, he wants to carry electric violins in the store, the typical Yamaha and that thing. Well, I remembered an artist from about 15 years ago that I bought his album. Mark Wood and the album was "Voodoo Violince". Mark is a classically trained violinist. However, he was tired of the limitations of the typical violin so what did he do, designed and built his own violins. Now has a company that makes hand built electric violins. He also has the title of the worlds first "Heavy Metal Violinist". I kid you not, that album blew me away. I couldnt believe that it was a violin I was hearing. The only words I have for it are AMAZING!!! He also travels and does concerts with his rock orchestra "Trans-Siberian Orchestra".

Anyway, back to the story. I called Wood Violins to request a dealer pack for the store. Marks assistant wasnt there at the time so I left my name and contact number for her to get back with me. I got home last night and there was a message on my voice mail from Mark Wood himself. I was like...OMG!!!:weee::weee::weee: I called back last night and left a message that I did receive Marks message and would try to get hold of Laura, Marks assistant. today when I got out of work. Well, I called today and asked for Laura. They asked who was calling and what it was in reference to and I told them. The guy that answered said, "oh, Scott, yes Mark would like to speak to you." The next thing I hear is Mark Wood on the other end of the phone.:eek: It was so awesome!!!! I am so giddy right now. He said he NEVER makes calls but saw that I had called and wanted info on becoming a dealer and was like "what the hell" and called me.

It was so awesome. We talked about the obvious, our store carrying Wood Violins. We also just shot the shit for a bit. It was great. He is sending an couple autographed pics, one for me and one for the store and his latest CD too. OMG...do I sound like a total groupie or what???!!!

Just wanted to share a little about my exciting day. For those of you that dont know who the heck I am talking about, which is probably most of you, here is a link to Marks personal website (http://www.markwoodmusic.com/html/news.html). Also, here is the link if you would like to learn more about Wood Violins (http://woodviolins.com/) awesome electric violins.

That was totally cool! What a great surprise to get a call from Mr. Wood; someone you admire. i am happy and giddy for you. I truly hope and pray that you and your dad are successful with your shop. Sounds like a lot of work and fun.

Scott: That sounds really exciting and awesome!!! Those kind of encounters seem so surreal when described, because it seems unlikely that we would in real life, have convos with persons whom we admire in that way, just to shoot the bull and talk about "life", among other things. Exciting!!! :)

OMG, that has got to be one of the all time funniest titles I've ever read.
It was so awesome. We talked about the obvious, our store carrying Wood Violins. (ok I'm like totally seeing you on the phone, chewing gum and twirling your hair at this point...) We also just shot the shit for a bit. It was great. He is sending an couple autographed pics, one for me and one for the store and his latest CD too. OMG...do I sound like a total groupie or what???!!!

That whole post was so fun, you really articulated the excitement well. By the end of the page I felt like I was watching it. Literally.

Good stuff, ‘to die for' even :award:, and I don't just give that award out to anybody .

I’ve heard electric violins before, and I checked out Mark Wood’s site and the video’s there, but I'm most familiar with the “Trans-Siberian Orchestra," via this:

Is Mark Wood a part of that, cuz that’s awesome.

PS, I can’t get over that title, that’s too funny.

Yes, Mark Wood frequently plays with TSO. In fact I think I stated it before he is going to be with them here in MI about 100 miles south of me this fall or early winter. Of course I AM GOIN!!!! Here is a little clip foe you all to let you know what this man can do with a classical instrument that has been fed steroids. He is playing a Viper 7 Sting Fretted Electric Violin, that he himself designed. This is about a $4200 violin. Feel free to order one from Wood Violins. Just tell them Scott Bouza sent ya there. (no that wasnt a shameless plug )

Mark Wood ROCKS!!! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=_mLGTiRkXGQ)

I got my autographed pics from him too. I am getting a frame for them tomorrow. It is so awesome.

Chewing gum and twirling my hair. Hummmmmm. That is funny. I have no hair to twirl, however, I was chewing gum at the time. Were you spying on me???
