Hi, everyone.

I'm a married Christian lady and a longtime Tammy Faye fan.
I get kindof tired of reading negative, hateful comments about her on "Christian" boards, from "Christians."
I figured if I came here, I could talk about her with people who loved her.....

I thought, in the days when she and her first husband were riding high, that she was a pathetic joke. it wasn't until everything crashed and burned around her that she began to emerge as an heroic figure. I guess its like the old hymn (How firm a foundation) says:

"The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine."

I guess there is a lesson in there for all of us, huh?

I very much loved, admired and respected Tammy Faye. She was a true friend and ally, not only of the gay community but of everyone. She loved like Christ.

You are definitely in the right place if you want to feel the love! Welcome! :)

Thanks! :D
Oh, I SO admired her! Always did. Gosh, I used to watch PTL in the late '80s, and I liked her then. I've always liked Tammy Faye.
Why do people care about her make-up?
I didn't care how much make-up she wore. I thought she was adorable. She loved EVERYBODY.
Tammy Faye wasn't gung-ho about all the building going on PTL. She thought it was excessive; that's the reason she and Jim separated --- he was caught up in all the building and expansion and never spent time with them.
Well, I don't want to go into all that.....let's just say Tammy Faye did what she thought was right...anyway....I loved her and never understood why people made fun of her. Perhaps she wore excessive make-up, but who was she hurting?? What was the big deal? I never got it.
She was sweet and loving - isn't THAT more important, than her make-up?
Geeze.
Anyway, I loved her (guess you can tell...LOL) :D

I'd answer your question, but I couldn't hear it --my hearing aid is across the room and I can't reach my walker.

Hello Grand daughter.

Long long ago in a galaxy far far away there was an evangelical couple who started a tv show called PTL (praise the lord) Jim and Tammy-faye Baker were their names. Tammy Faye was something of a "character". she was very emotional and wore a lot of make-up. more than most women do. when she would cry... her make-up would run. Many people found her comical (myself included)

When they got in trouble with the Law over taxes and other forms of financial fraud, her husband Jim went to jail. Her life collapsed around her. In the midst of trouble she revealed herself as a deeply compassionate and faithful person. Even before that happened she was the first and really ONLY evangelical celebrity to reach out to people with AIDS.

Is that helpful?

Jennifer,

I laughed so hard when you asked who Tammy Faye was and then Brent's clever reply. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! The thing is all that happened before you were even born!!!!Or at least when you were a young tyke and the only thing you were concerned with is how many french fries your mom let you have at MacDonald's. You are too funny!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:
