Anyone have a pet you are proud of? I never thought I would have another pet but my daughter "needed" one. Sadly, I really like them.

What a great idea Sailor!! :):D

I don't have any pets. Hubby & I live way too unpredictable a lifestyle, travel, long days away from the house. . . we would want any pet we adopt to be spoiled silly, so we have 150 plush animals instead. They're low maintenance, having the magical ability to live for decades without food or water, & entertain themselves for months on end without us. ;)

I adore bunnies. Just the other night, hubby came home and surprised me with a new plush bunny - his name is Peter (as in Rabbit), and he's beautiful.

If we were in a position to adopt pets, here's what I would consider bringing home:

These are my babies. Well Mikki, the black dog is still with me. Yoshi, the little brown dog died about a year ago. I miss him a lot!!!! He loved to sleep under the covers right up against me. He was great. Mikki is awesome too. She is the worlds most perfect dog. Loving, people friendly, she is the best. She is about 4 years old. Got her when she was 3 months old and she has been mine ever since. She is a lap dog all the way. I love her tons!!!!! I am on the iBook so I dont have the pics on this computer. Here are the links to the ones I have on my MySpace page.

This is Yoshi...He is wearing the coat that I made him.

Take care all. I will be back in a week or so. We are finally going to be getting the music store opened up. Hopefully, by the 13th is what we are hoping. Wish us luck.

Peace,
Scott

No pets since the unfortunate demise of Pinky :'(

Selling points for GPs:

1) Only rodents where the Dads care for the babies (and don't try to eat them)

2) Live their lives by answering two important questions: "Can I eat it?" and "Will it eat me?"

3) Have at least 10 different words they can use: (7 of which translate roughly to "Give me a carrot" at various levels of passion and intensity and two of which mean "DON'T EAT ME!!! PLEASE!!)

4) make a pleasant purring noise when they are content

Downside: They pee on you.

I swore I would not become emotionally attached to a rodent, but I wept the day I had to put him down.

...was the name she came with as a rescue dog when my ex-boyfriend Will and I adopted her at 18 months.

To us, she became simply Margaret or "the Blops".

She was a Skye Terrier, born on Christmas Day 1990 in Glasgow, Scotland. She and two siblings were brought to this country by an owner who soon became too sick to take care of them.

She left us in February 2006, thoroughly devastating a number of people who knew her to be one of those Great Dogs.

All the great qualities of dogs, AND you can do their hair ... something to be said for terriers!

I believe dogs have to have a shorter lifespan than us, because with the intensity of their love, they could never manage with surviving US. God bless all puppies, big and small.

My sweet precious angel Dot! She's a Yorkie-Poo, recently celebrated her 7th birthday, and she is of course the most perfect and wonderful companion. Her brother is cute too (a much bigger, more demanding Aussie-Border Collie), I'll have to see about getting a picture of him on here. For now, I present Dot, aka Lilly Lumpkins (her stage name!):

Cool. I'll look forward to seeing the horse.

I would like to post a few pics of our plush friends, we have jillions of pics of our plush cuties, but being the techno-phobe that I am, I don't know how to get them posted onto here from iphoto. Does anyone know how who can explain it to me? If so, I could post some of our plush cuties. . . there was one I wanted to post yesterday of a bunny and a penguin gazing out a hotel window over the skyline of Prague. :p There's even a rainbow over the city. :D

My beautiful horse Louie, an Arabian gelding with a much longer 'official' name. In formal moments, he is "Lewis".

My daughter loves horses. Of course we have deprived her. We don't look for horses, we look for friends with horses!

Unfortunately horses are expensive. For those who love them, they are like air and water and food. Without horses in my life, it just doesn't seem quite right! I just rode today, and while it was far from a perfect ride (I compete so always trying to get it right), the world seems completely right when I'm on my horse. Oh, and the welcome whinny is the hook!!

Z, I'll try to see if I can post a bigger pic...got to work with the photo on my computer and see what I can do.

Tarantulas actually made great pets. Very low maintenance and if you get the right species, quite tame. You may not want to wake up to them in your face tho, and they are famous for escaping. I've had bearded dragons (lizards) too in the past, they are great pets. Except for one male, a beautiful dragon but hated everything about me. He preferred to attack me even when trying to clean his cage, etc. I found a person who was looking for a male dragon, handed him over, and the beauty was immedately at peace and looked downright joyful. Maybe he just wasn't into 'girls'!

Right now, the horse, 2 dogs and 2 cats are more than enough critters. We also feed the wild birds, and have some regulars that hang around, enjoy the various insects and butterflies in the yard, and try to de-ant without toxic chemicals (a real challenge). My only question is, with all these dang ants around, where the heck are the uncles & cousins??? Sorry, I tend to crack myself up sometimes.... ;)

Bear is friendly enough. I carry him around the room sometimes. I actually used to have an emperor scorpion. Little did I know, she was pregnant, & gave birth to 17 babies, but she ate them all before they were big enough for me to take away. She died a few years back as a result of someone watching her for a week deciding he was afraid to give her water. She was 2.

Yikes... sorry to hear you lost her. I can understand that whoever it was was afraid.... but they souldn't of been willing to watch her if that was the case.

Yeah. They aren't exactly aggressive though (except when there are babies). They're like the laziest creatures on earth. They won't run at you from across the tank. Too much work :p
