Hey everyone,
it's been a while since i posted anything. been really busy with graduating and getting stuff together for grad school.
im going to be doing some major research for my thesis surveying human sexuality and the bible. dealing with topics such as incest, multiple parners, honosexuality, and other forms of sexual activity and ritual.
i was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction to some good resources that i can take a look at.
thanks everyone,
derrick

No recommendations, actually - that's way outside my area - but just wanted to say Hey! Welcome back! :)
Congrats on the grad school plans - sounds like you have your goals pretty well mapped out already. Cool.

Well, you can actually start in Genesis, with Abraham and Sarah, and of course, Hagar (the mother of Ishmael). Then there was Jacob, with both Rachel and Leah (sisters), then there was King David and his dozen or so wives, and let's not forget his son, Solomon with his myriad of wives/concubines.
In Leviticus there was mention of sex between men, but not women, and it was in the context of laws designed to keep the Hebrew race pure and undefiled. Therefore sex with other men was unproductive in that it didn't produce children, and sex with men in the pretext of idol worship, and it was wrong because it was idol worship and not worship of God. Frequently, the conquering party in a war, subjected their male victims to rape in a further effort to humiliate them.
In Romans there is mention of men giving themselves over to unnatural desires, sex with other men, and women doing the same with other women. It is doubtful this is a negative in homosexual relationships because straight men having sex with another man is UNNATURAL, but a homosexual man having sex with another man is very NATURAL.
So there's a start. Hope it helps.

Here's my brief "Must Read" list ... maybe you've already seen them, but ...
Jesus, The Bible, and Homosexuality Jack Rogers
The New Testament and Homosexuality Robin Scroggs
Christianity, Social Tolerance, and Homosexuality John Boswell (good doorstop if you can't slog through it all at once ... heavy, but great!)
There are many, many, more ... here's an interesting bibliography:

Happy research!

so i've heard many preachers condemn homosexuality...mainly because there is nothing positive said about it in the Bible...
is that true??
I wouldn't know...
