Hi Lisa! I'm a gay Presbyterian clergy man who is 23 years into a heterosexual, monogamous, (sometimes) conflicted marriage. "polly" my wife is around here somewhere. We have three college age sons. Blessings on you and your communion next week.

I come from a very small Presbyterian branch of a largely Lutheran family tree so when I am on my knees trying to keep the Presbyterians on the straight (well not so much ;)) and narrow, I am always happy to toss in a good word for the Lutherans.

Dave,

Thanks so much for the encouragement! And, true, my marriage isn't ALWAYS conflicted. I was trying to get across that we both bring an extra big load of shame from our families of origin and culture, etc. and that we have resisted the invitation to give it over to God and rest in His presence together.

Typically, my husband functions as an underachiever and I as one on a roller coaster (that's very different my pre-marriage years when I only overfunctioned). We play well together; we do decent co-parenting; we are shaky most other places in our life.

Hi Lisa,

Glad to have you here.

I'm always glad to see Lutherans around. I grew up Lutheran and have a fondness for the denomination. I appreciate the strong emphasis the Lutheran Church places on grace and the outpouring of love that God gives to his people.

I had hopes about the ELCA becoming more affirming of LGBT individuals. Lately I don't see much of a trend in that area. Do you think progress is being made?

Please join in our discussions. We love new voices in the conversation.

Tu Amigo, Pablo

Thanks to U-dog and others for the encouragement in August.

Important question: anyone know how to help me? When my name is googled, the first thing that pops up is the thread "Hello, my name is..." and it opens right up to my post (which is VERY revealing). Any ideas???

I'll try to edit the title of your thread so that it doesn't reveal your full name.
