What attracts you to a person... ?

Friend or partner, since they're probably pretty much the same I'd think.

...Sorry, I meant to have it so you could choose more than one option, but I clicked submit before clicking that. (if one of the moderators is able to change it, it'd be appreciated)

Really its a combination of things. Good looks make me pay attention and WANT to like the person. What they say has a HUGE impact on how they make me feel. Sense of humor is very important to me. I am attracted to people who are compassionate and funny and smart and creative.

eyebrows are very important.

Initially what attracts me to a person is their looks, but I quickly transition to their personality and if that is not good, then their looks suddenly turn me off, and they don't look as good as they once did to me.

With my wife, initially I thought she was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen. As I got to know her, it was her personality that really attracted her to me.

My ex on the other hand, I thought he was sorta cute in the beginning, but as I got to know him, his personality and behavior royally turned me off.

u-dog, you are nuts.

I'm a martial artist and have been for about 11 years. There's a guy in one of my classes who I am very attracted to. I have always considered him a hottie. He's a massage therapist, teaches yoga, has kind of a far east approach to life. His looks are what first attracted me, but definately his personality is the bigger turn on for me. I've noticed over the last year that he's getting a little thick around the middle, something that doesn't usually appeal to me...but I am still very attracted to this guy anyway.

For me looks is what intiates attraction, but personality is necessary to keep it going and ultimately almost supplants the physical in importance.

I dont know, usually just if they cool, like if we get to know each other and we hit it off, I will make the first move, maybe its hard to believe but I prefer guys a little on the plus side, more to hug I guess :D

I have always been attracted to eyes and a great smile. With that being said, I have met many guys who at first I was not attracted to but as I got to know them their personalites won me over. Also, I need someone who can talk to me...so many people with so little to say does not do it for me.

Do there have to be TWO?

I've always said that the number one common trait in guys I'm attracted to is that they're not into me. But that's just the cynic in my talking ... well, shouting ...

Seriously, physical trait would be eyes. I'm big into eyes. Brows not so much. Like any man, I'd be dishonest if I said physical beauty was not the first thing I noticed, but I'm a big believer in the old country saying: "Kissing don't last, but cooking do ..." In other words, substance over appearance.

Personality traits would be a good spiritual match, and a good sense of humor.

Lastly, for whatever reason, I have to sense that indefinable thing called "chemistry" too ...

When I start calculating the numbers on what percent of the population is gay, then what percent of them are serious about their faith, and what percentage of them are relatively close to my age, and ... I start to get nervous and have to go think about something else. Will you excuse me for a moment?

Jennifer5

Although I can like the looks of a person... for me that's a completely different thing.

I fall for character... a feeling....

If I'm upset and want to cry over nothing, I like it if you can make me smile instead.

If I'm upset because of something real, I want to be held in your arms.

If it's just a usual day, I don't want our worlds to have to revolve around one another, but be able to come together as if we were never apart.

These things don't just go for partners in my mind. I think these things are incredibly important in a friend as well.

Smile is a major point for me, dimples earn plus points but the first reeally thing I notice about people is hair. Be them male or female, hair always draws my eye. I guess it's cause I'm tall and I usually look down on people so there it is.
That and coller bones. Is that weird? I like pronounced ones.

I'm done. ha ha.

Dear Brent,

There was one for ME. If I could find one, there's one for YOU. If I stopped to calculate the odds, which I didn't dare, but just thinking of it for a moment left me assuming lifelong single-dom, I would have been quite sad.

I needed someone:

not into drinking or substances, NO smoking, generally quiet and calm, with a lot of intelligence, educated in many areas especially the theater, takes good care of him/herself, doesn't want kids, holds spiritual beliefs that don't clash too much with mine, is open to yoga, is not homophobic, is not BIphobic, is cool with partnering with a bisexual, understands that bisexual orientation does NOT mean non-monogamy, is cool with a partner being OUT as bisexual and a queer activist, likes me, enjoys talking to me, is romantically and sexually attracted to me, is able and willing to completely commit to me, and who I feel all the same ways about in return. I thought the odds on finding that were awfully prohibitive. :p:lol: Funny. I met hubby less than a year after it first occured to me that I was finally ready to offer myself to a partner. Maybe that's just damn good luck, I guess, I dunno.

Point is: if all that lined up for the two of us, I have faith that it can line up for others, too.

Oh, god yes!! On women, that is. Slender women with shapely collar bones, that's devastating! Oh yeah! :agree:

Visually speaking: I greatly admire arms on both males and females. I like really muscular arms, but NOT bulk, lean, cut muscles like you see on yogis, swimmers, gymnasts. Mmmmmm.

Haha, I hear that all the time, peopel thinks its weird I prefer plus sizes, I dont know they be crazy :D haha, they dont know the meaning of good :D

I can understand that. In the past, I was mightily turned on by a few peeps who were chubby. I don't get why some people consider it a turn-off. That's silly. Sexy is sexy, regardless of size. Sometimes, sexier WITH some size.

I am a sucker for huge brown eyes. When my wife and I were still trying to figure out this thing between us, she would look at me with those gorgeous, drop dead beautiful brown eyes with such an intensity it almost scared me. I often wondered back then, "If I give my heart to you, what are you going to do with it?"

To this day, she still is a knock out and I consider myself lucky to have a tall, dark and beautiful Greek Mexican woman to love. ;););););););)

I am sorry, but I am a little superficial. I want my boy/guy/man to be good looking. Attraction is what gets you there. Love is what keeps you. I've got to be attracted to him, to want to get to know him, because only once I know him, can I fall in love with him.

Okay so I've actually been thinking about this thread all day (I know I have such an exciting life:lol:) and I started to take inventory on who I look at and why I look at them. I came to a conclusion.
Crooked smiles are my thing. Every single person I'm attracted too has a crooked smile, not huge, but enough that you could notice. And I LOVE smiles. They're addicting, what's not to love?
That and eyebrows. Yes I said it. Eyebrows. I'm sure tons have seen Grey's Anatomy, Callie's eyebrows! That's got to be the sexiest thing of the show, well for me anyway.
But I'm strange.
And like coller bones, but so does Zerbie, so that makes me feel a little better.

My conclusions done.

Really... I think it's the opposite... for me, if a guy's convinced that he's hot... I look at him and see someone who needs to learn a thing or two in life... I think those guys can be real jerks... I don't like THAT high self-esteem.

ooh... and 'the look' I think had forgotten about 'the look'... I have no idea what it really is, but some people can just give me a certain look... the look that says they really care about you... (but let's stick with what I said on my first response, I put things into words nicely that time... now I'm just rambling)

I know what you are talking about Jorge. I have a neice who is BEAUTIFUL, everyone remarks on it. But if you look at each individual thing (eyes, nose, mouth, figure, etc) there is nothing that is extraordinarily beautiful in the classic sense. But she has this AURA about her. she BELIEVES that she is beautiful and sends out that message in a hundred different ways and people just believe her. And there is NOTHING conceited about her AT ALL. She is a lovely, loving, charming person. She just likes herself and expects that you will like her too... and you do. The overall effect is "Gosh, shes beautiful"

That is SOoooo true!

Not crappy attitude. Real belief that what you are is sexy inside and out. Confidence, not fake attitude or over-confidence or being a jerk. Real confidence is the sexiest thing out there.

A couple times I had flings with people who were extremely confident, maybe a teeeeeensy bit arrogant in ways. I'd get hot for people who felt *they* were hot.

I like looking at beautiful people.

Most important: I like being around people who are nice.

I find that confidence and humility are beautiful traits that often go together. A person who has good self-esteeem doesn't need to impress. I like being around a person who is concerned about the feelings of others. I like a person who is laid-back and slow to get stressed. I want friends who are content just being with me even when nothing exciting is happening. One of my picky requirements is intelligence. I like people who are well educated and aware of the world around them.

Yeah, I don't care so much about an actual education, because I've seen a few to many educated jerks who think they know it all. But a world view, when you open your mouth, I don't want to feel like you're someone who's going no where.... it drives me crazy when people will live somewhere their entire life, then turn around and pretend to know what they're talking about when they say things about different countries.
