If something gets planned, I will try and finagle our summer travel to accomodate it. Though next summer really SUCKS - as far as being able to plan new stuff I mean, not really sucks, since we're taking a long vacay in Europe - but getting a chance to get back across the pond in time may be an issue.
But August is probably the one time it would be possible for us. So, in brief: keep us posted! I know I can TRY.

Yup, 3D with the Z in September! Ok, I'll have to put the caveat on that one - ONLY if our dipstick legislators SIGN THE FREAKIN BUDGET BEFORE THEN. We can't even submit training requests or register for training until the budget is signed. The republicans are holding the budget hostage, even the republican gov wishes they would sign the dang thing. WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM???
So, anyways, can you tell I'm frustrated?? My training is the least of what's happening with no budget. Some of our small health care facilities are threatening to close down because they aren't receiving any payments from the State.
But, if the budget gets signed in by end of this month, I think we're ok. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed, emailing the airheads and hoping for the best!:rolleyes::pray:

:lol::lol:
Hope those health care facilities get the finances they need!
And I hope I still get my evening 3D with the T!
Shoot me a PM when you find out either way. If it's good news, I can find a good place for us to eat dinner, or maybe a show if there's something good going on nearby. Though perhaps the best I could do is find out if you could be allowed to observe a rehearsal on campus. . . . We'll figure something out if you wind up making the trip.

Tdogg,
What do you mean, "What is their problem?"; They're Californians! You're giving this southern California boy a bit of nostalgia for the days of his youth. California politics have always been so much fun. Where else in the country would Arnold Swarzenegger have been elected governor? California government is like a fight in a bar; it's exciting, it runs with no rules, and you know there are going to be casualties.

I know, I know! What was I thinking questioning it???!!! Just that, last year the state budget was signed exactly on time, I was sorta hoping, no expecting, that it would be the same this year. And now I'm a supervisor, so it's doubly a pain!!!
I KNOW they gotta sign it soon. :agree: So I KNOW I'll be meeting Z in 3D in September! :applause: I just KNOW it! :D;)

... of the "I ate with Andy and lived" club.
What a gentle spirit you are, Brian, and so warm and welcoming. I sensed a little trepidation, at first, like you were saying, "I know this guy from the internet, but what if he really is that insane?" The waitress - a card carrying member of the "I love Brain fanclub" - also looked a little suspiciously at me - it was like, "What are doing here with my Brian?" But you seemed to settle in and accept me for who I am, with nothing more than a couple of sideways glances. Maybe Jenna's presence helped, since she exudes a more gentle spirit than I. And u-dog - I mean, well, even I look mentally healthy next to him.
Really, though, Brian is the 3rd Soulforcer I met in 3-D (at least that I am aware of) and joins the others that I can no longer just love in spirit. Meeting like this puts face and personality into the mix, and makes it impossible not to love in a deeper, broader way. I just met someone else that I am blessed with being able to call "friend" and love - like Dave and Steve. And the best part is that I have found that the impressions I have gotten from their many words that I've read is a pretty accurate picture of who they are.
I love this. But, then again, I am nuts.
P.S. The waitress took a picture of all of us - Brian, Dave, Jenna and I - with Brian's camera. Hopefully Brian will post the picture in the forums. They even took off the arm restraints for the picture, which I appreciated.

Well, Jennifer - that's the "official" reason. In reality, I have sat across from this man a couple of different times now, and I'm here to tell you that this is a man with no reflection and a face that will not record on a camera, anyway.
We asked Brian if we could try to get a picture of Dave's face, but he said, "Not with my f------ camera. I can't afford to replace it." The waitress we asked to take the picture just looked at us like we were insane, and said that she'd never met anyone who negative kharma showed that much on their physiognomy. Well, they're a little smudged, but we can still make out the address. I'm probably talking out of school (so don't tell the others), but it had something to do with all four of us making a trip to Chicago and "preparing" an apartment for two lovebirds we know about.
I'm just having a little difficulty reading the work assignments, however.
Right where Jenna's Merlow dripped it says something about sh-t sh-ting a bed - I can't remember talking about anything like that. Must have been Brian's job, I think.
Then there's the thing about taking the batteries out - some kind of toy, I think, but I can't read because Dave dribbled on that part of his napkin.
My part had something to do with handcups - now that doesn't make sense - damn sloppy pull on the Bass was responsible for that smudge.
And Jenna, of course, was posting bail for three something or other - numbn-ts is all I can make out. What the heck could that be.
Anyway, Dash, we'll get back to you when we have it figured out. Oh yeah, when's David gonna be back up? No, really, just curious.

Pre-nesting Phase Two commences Aug. 30 through the end of the holiday weekend...
...then, Le Grande Schlepp begins most likely Tuesday, Sept. 25. The revolution may not be televised, but we're thinking this may be an auspicious time to inaugurate our blog.

hey everybody,
Sailaway and I (and his lovely wife) met at Starbucks this morning! What a nice person his wife is! What a remarkable human being TIM is ! I totally enjoyed myself.
For a tool of Satan he is an unusually Godly and Christlike person !!  Good sense of humor, feet on the ground, salt of the earth kind of guy. Thanks for taking the time to get together, Tim!
So that makes MY tally "3" : Andy (and Jenna), Brian, and Tim. Andy is also at three. can anyone top "3" ? (actually if we are allowed to count spouses... I'm at 5)

I just found this thread.
My wife and I had a wonderful visit Friday with U-dog. For her it was liberating to find that at least some of the people here are normal. Many of her reservations were laid to rest.
For me I couldn't have had a more affirming time and found a more comfortable first meeting.
My count is two 3D meetings, the friend that invited me here and lurks in the shadows, and U-dog.
Think a central Indiana Soulforce talent show hosted in my home town at our incredible Arts Place theater would bring a few members around and add a few to the membership list? Just brainstorming.

Well, it's about f'ing time. Author meets the inspiring subject for his impassioned love story.
I do beg to differ, however. He is not the sweetest guy I have ever met. I've never met him. (Hint. Hint) I know I'd like him, though - he writes kind words. And I know I like you, Pablo - you are very kind also. So, in a way, maybe I am looking at two of the sweetest guys I know - virtually, anyway.

HEY! You WERE invited ... this was the Kirkridge retreat weekend! Ended up I couldn't get the Thurs and Fri off work, and Pablo already had his plane tix (UDog had to cancel) ... so we said, hey, why waste the tix!
In case there was any doubt, Pablo is every bit as articulate, charming and funny in person as on the forums. And he never stops smiling! And he's REALLY tall! (If I were that tall, maybe I'd be skinny.) ... so my kids were nice to him, my dog didn't bite or growl, and I managed not to trigger any of his food allergies while he was here. Great time!

You are all cordially invited to attend a Soulforce Forum Gathering in NYC at the home of Jonathan and Daniel, Saturday, June 28th, 2008, at 6 PM
Dinner, beverages, and merriment will be served.
July 28th is the evening before the Gay Pride Parade- the Last Sunday in June. A weekend in NYC this summer. Could be a blast. Let me know what you think. We can coordinate details via PM.

There's absolutely no way I'd be able to make it to NY, being 17(by then) with a father who makes travel pretty much impossible, plus even if I could get to NY, it'd be hard to be able to come with me being a minor and all and the fact that my mom hasn't ever met any of you. Plus the school does an 8th grade graduation... can't miss that and it's in June...

Thank you for the invitation, Daniel. I would love to come to New York. However, my health makes air travel an iffy proposition. I need oxygen at night and my legs swell from sitting. I have heard that it's dangerous to fly with swollen legs. Perhaps my doctor can advise me about travel. It would be a fun time I'm sure.

Oh yeah, any ideas on a hotel? I started looking, need to keep it somewhat reasonable but like to stay in a place where it would be easy to get around.
Daniel, where is the best location, I'm assuming Manhattan somewhere? I'm not familiar with NY at all. Also, would like to TRY to keep the room under $200 a nite, and I'm up for a roommate as well (if anyone else is interested in sharing) so that would open it up for a much higher room.
Thought about the Y but not sure???

It is reasonable and clean.
You might also try B&B's. There are lots of them in the city. And while it may be too pricey, the Lucerne on 79th St. is a nice place.

Steve tells me that the Comfort Inn (a few blocks north of us) is booked for that Saturday night, but there are other places to look into. Best thing to do is to use the web and investigate.
Hope this helps.

Daniel, I just got your email about the pre-pride gathering at your home. I just told Derrick that we were celebrating Pride in New York City this year and more importantly...we're going to meet the wonderful people of Soulforce.
This is soooooooooooo exciting :love::love:
Do we have an "official hotel" yet ?
Weeeeeee! You're making my heart sing. So far, 9 of us are going to be meeting each other this summer.
I've already mentioned the Y and the Lucerne.......in addition I should mention that any hotel South of 110 street and North of Wall Street has easy access to all of Manhattan. Subways take one everywhere.
"Gay" hotels are not necessarily the best btw.
The unfortunate thing is that I live here and haven't stayed in Hotels! So I don't have a recommendation off the top of my head other than the one's that I've mentioned. That said: our location is on the Upper West Side. (I am sending our contact info via PM: we are near Lincoln Center). In addition- I would not dally about reservations- Gay Pride Weekend is sure to be a 'hot ticket'.
The Gay Pride Parade - on Sunday- starts south of us on 5th Avenue (at something like 57 St) and goes South into the Village.
Steve and Scotty and Tdogg have been looking into this already....perhaps you can confer with them....and I'll be looking too.
Addition:
Just did a search on Hotel.com (slow site) for the weekend in question and came up with the following of hotels under $175.00....
Hotel Riverside Studios (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60763-d224229-Reviews-Hotel_Riverside_Studios-New_York_City_New_York.html)
Americana Inn ($167.00- Avenue Of Americas @ 38th / New York
Hotel Info: 866-226-6223)
Columbus Studio Hostel (Central Park 1 800-916-4507)
A lot more here...

The YMCA on 63rd Street.
Why? She's asked colleagues who have stayed there, talked with the staff (and when doing so, a gentlemen came out of the elevator and exclaimed "Great room!" to one of the staff at the desk) and snooped around on the web. The price is very good for what you are getting: a clean, quiet room a few steps away from Central Park and Chez Oxy, plenty of places to dine in the area, Lincoln Center is a block away as in Tavern On the Green etc etc.
Really.. I know what you're thinking.....YMCA? Isn't that a smelly dive? No. Not in NYC it isn't. The place is run like a hostel with a dash of class.

We could use her over here to command a certain someone's attention who is doing the trip-planning for summer, and impress upon him the importance of being in NYC on the particular weekend in question.
Today, for the first time, I heard of the possibility that the program in Germany might not yet be happening this year, in which case we would NOT have to be in Dresden at all, let alone into July.
I await further developments.

Dame's can't hold a candle to Dark Wizards.....
Well.....maybe for them. But only when dressed appropriately. What does one wear when casting spells?
Let's see....
Black lace and silk dress, cut on the bais. Baroque pearls. Patent leather pumps. A line of red at the lips and touch of rouge. And a big hat with a terrifying pin. Oh....and the veil....mustn't forget that.
The Dark Arts need a little mystery. Though I'll never lend that ensemble to any wizard again.
I mean....really! The dry cleaning bill alone......

Well, it's a collaborative endeavor and it depends on, without getting too specific, whether circumstances allow the colleague with the German contacts to finalize plans this spring or not. It is getting late, and it's possible that by the time a green light appears it will be too late for this summer.
For months this has been talked about as a done deal, so it seems your spell is working just fine. :p

The Gathering in 3-D is coming up soon!
June 28th at chez Shigo and Baker at 6 PM.
I have heard from a few of you recently regarding your coming to NYC: it looks like a fair number of our fellow Soulforcers will be in attendance.
Please let me know if you plan to attend and also- if you can't make it. At last count, there were about 15-20 persons who indicated that they were coming. That will help with preparations and such.
We look forward to meeting you in 3-D!

Please, you will have to give everyone an extra hug to be from me. And get yourself some extra hugs, as well. Take lots n lotsa pictures.
My heart will most certainly be there. I love you all so much.

We had a grand time! Yakked about everything from the forum to spirituality, politics and everything in between. :aparty:
Mia and her girlfriend hoped to attend but got caught up with hotel problems- we were sorry to learn. Since it is Gay Pride Weekend, the place they were staying at was overbooked. We we sorry to miss them!
Here's two pics from the evening.
We are all meeting later in this morning (I am writing this about 9 AM Sunday), having breakfast, and then heading out to the Parade! :weee:

Think I put it this way: "We should guilt everyone into it next year!" So very non non-violent of me.:D;)
Ohhhhhhh. We had a great time. Even during the thunderstorm while we were standing out in front of the Public Library at 42nd Street. And dummy me, it was only after about 5 minutes-and we were soaked to the bone, that we ran up the steps and under the portico of the library with many other people who had the same idea and waited the rain out for about 20 minutes. Jenna had the genius idea of getting coffee and a little nosh which we did around the corner when it cleared up. Then we came back and watched the rest of the parade.
How long did it last? Four hours. And the time flew by. What's the end of the saying?
When you're having fun!

Where we sought shelter while it rained. What a grand building it is: the Reading Room is worth a visit. Amazing place! The kind of place that makes you think better of yourself. A Temple of Knoweldge.

Sorry it has taken me so long to post about this. I must admit I kind of wanted to see what was said and the reactions.
I could have done without the last picture being shown - since it kind of like Bodies Beautiful + 1, but it gives you some idea of the good time we had. I mean, I gotta tell you, I am really quite modest and, for very good reasons, rarely go topless in public. By that time, though, my inhibitions were pretty well set aside - and alcohol wasn't involved.
Let me recap the weekend for you - from my perspective.
Jenna and I arrive at Grand Central in NYC, stroll past Times Square and Broadway and sit in beautiful Bryant Park playing Scrabble for a while, before we leisurely make our way up 8th Ave to Central Park. The YMCA where we stayed, as did Scott and Steve, is directly across from Central Park - and Jenna and I even had a great view of it, with the NYC skyline behind, from our window. A short afternoon nap before showering, and then off to Daniel and Jonathon's place for the SF 3D event.
We walked up 8th Ave for half a dozen blocks or so, with Central Park on one side and beautiful old buildings on the other. Upon arriving, we enter the most impeccably decorated apartment imaginable. The surroundings are welcoming and we immediately feel comfortable. We get to hug Daniel and Steve again, being quite a while since we've seen each other, and then meet Scott and Jonathon - face to face - eyeball to eyeball - okay, in Jonathon's case eyeball to Adam's apple. The point is, not only did we get to see a couple of people that Jenna and I dearly love, but we got to meet the people they love and are loved by.
Then we began to chat about anything and everything, as has already been mentioned, while we savored a few glasses of what I hear was very good wine and some excellent Belgian beer. We then eat the most sumpuous feast prepared by Daniel - incredible meats, sauteed veggies, with gourmet sides in abundance - this was a meal fit for royalty, which is what we felt like.
We then continued moderately imbibing libations, while we talked, joked, laughed and respectfully argued (too strong a word - dialogued is better) about anything we could think of. We even heard Steve on the piano, and the glorious voice of Daniel. We got to see, first hand, the men that Steve and Daniel love, and to talk with them and figure out for ourselves why these guys are married or soon to be wed. I, of course, had to suffer through both Scott and Jonathon asking Jenna the same question that Daniel and Scott did at our first meetings - "So, Jenna. You seem - well, sane - so how come you ended up with HIM?" It's okay. I'm getting used to it. [Sigh]
We walk back to the YMCA, being shown the way through Central Parkby Daniel, and enjoy the Big Apple by night. A good nights sleep, followed by a sumptuous breakfast prepared by Daniel, and then we're off to the Pride Parade. You heard about much of the rest of the day, which was an absolutely great time.
So, that's what YOU missed and I didn't. :weee::weee::weee::weee::weee: And, to top it off, we got to see Gennee in the Parade. Now, I know what you're thinking - "Damn! I wish I could have been there." Just remember, though, there's always next year. Steve said something about a boa and a G-string, but I didn't catch all of it.

You are royalty.
And you looked great at the parade. Dame Oxy won't debate the point. And Jenna is a Queen! We love her!
Did we debate? I don't remember that. My tiara must have constricted the blood flow at that point. However, I do recall the boa moment.....
Here's what ya'll missed....my backyard...which Andy mentioned. Sheep's Meadow Yes....they actually kept sheep in this meadow back in the old days....the buildings are now Tavern on the Green.

I, of course, had to suffer through both Scott and Jonathon asking Jenna the same question that Daniel and Scott did at our first meetings - "So, Jenna. You seem - well, sane - so how come you ended up with HIM?" It's okay. I'm getting used to it. [Sigh]
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
**laughing to hard... must take a moment to catch my breath**
So, how does she respond?

Wow.
The pictures are awesome; I feel so disappointed that I had to miss, but better luck next year. I definitely think that we should try again next year, and see how many people can be gathered up to join together. It sounds and looks like fun, laughs and love were had by all.......

I just have to post some pictures of my visit to Cincinnati on the fourth of July to see Matthew.
I know you all think he is a radical right-winger and think that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer... (to the side: "What?! OK, OK, I'll delete that at the end. Someone's touchy today, sheesh!")
Actually Matthew is is sweet and charming guy who is intellectual and intense in person. And the guy is georgeous, am I right? Who would ever think this guy is over 40? And to top it off, he's great in bed! (to the side again: "What now? That either?! OK, Yes, I will delete that too before I post, Cripes!")
I also added a bigger picture of my avatar since neither of the other two pictures is that good of me. The blurrier one is better than the one when I am in my grubbies with what little hair I have matted down with sweat. (We had been canoeing and bicycling.) But I always look better in blurrier pictures...sigh!
Now was I supposed to do something before I posted this?
I don't remember what it was.

Pablo,
why do you say that you don't look so good in the pics. You look great!! I thought I looked a bit haggered. You dragged me around canoeing, cycling, golf frisbe, etc.... I was a mess! Need to get back into shape. Thanx Pablo for getting me started. Now if I could only stop smoking!

on the cover of a magazine! Seriously, you are both quite photogenic, and the pic together is lovely. Cheers! (And, I'm glad the two of you were able to get together in 3D. Always great to hear of SF meetings!) :D

Yaaa, gorgeous.
Speaking of 3D meetings and pictures, T, do I have your permission to upload the pic of the two of us at dinner last year? (IF I ever figure out how to do it? Halfway there, the photo is saved on the computer now. . . maybe in a bit o' time we can actually get it posted, if that's okay with you.)

Am I going to get no comment on this statement?
Not even Matthew himself bothered to comment on it, not even the effort at a rebuttal or clarification.
I try to say something somewhat scandalous and no one cares. That's what happens when you're over 45, nobody has any interest. Or the idea just seems so absurd it isn't worth commenting on.
And Matthew's attitude probably is, "Of course I'm great in bed, why would anyone think differently? "
Someone was supposed to say, "I bet you're awesomely great in bed too Pablo!" but did anyone? No?
Why is everyone laughing at me!?

Thank You Matt,
I knew we had you around here for something. ;)
Pablo
Hey, I just heard that comment "needy and high maintenance". (My hearing is very keen.) I will you tell you now, I do NOT need support and affirmation constantly. I am very independent. But if you must make compliments about me, go ahead.
I said, "Go ahead...."
Uhh...anytime.....
Waiting...
