Oh, a few details are missing. Vanessa is staying at a hotel in Pittsburgh. I pulled up to find her waiting for me. She got in the car, and I took her to Church Brew Works (http://www.churchbrew.com) a well-known Pittsburgh establishment. We did, indeed, drink a beer inside the church, and it was a beer that was brewed right there on the altar. We were so busy talking (Vanessa, Scott-my partner, and myself) that we hadn't quite noticed that our meal was taking entirely too long. A manager came over and informed us of the problem, and said that our entrees would be comped. So it's official, Vanessa is a cheap date. The total was $16 for the 3 of us. Don't worry, I tipped the waitress on the full price of the meal.

Besides the fact that we did drink beer in a church, indeed church brewed at the altar, and I did sit in what was a pew I think at one time, it was somewhat of a delight for a reformed Catholic like myself!! Ditto also to what fun we had, it was just a total joy to meet Steve, and Scott, and talk live about plans, dreams, life, love......... and I am NOT being overdramatic here. What was so interesting and fun about it, was that it was like we had done it a dozen times already, a testament to what we have here together.

Dash, saw your lovely wave!! I am waving hi right back!!! Jen, you are just sweet- we took the picture as we were leaving, and I just felt so happy and blessed that we were able to do this.

Isn't that weird? That's what it was like for me last year when I went to the 1000 watt march, especially with Jamie, Jennifer and Awediot. And I'm super shy so it was a concern of mine. And then of course this year too at the survivors conference.

It just makes it so much easier when there's already an established bond and you have something to work off of.

I only got to go because I had Patrick to help me out... and I church that I could get money from. I think I still have Patrick if I ever need his help, but no more church. So unless things are in places that I can easily get to (like Seattle), or somewhere where I can stay with family or something... it'll be a long time before I get to attend another event.
