Hello,
My name is Michelle and I am 20 years old. I am a college student studying Accounting and wanted to join this awesome site, so I may gather with some Christians to support and encourage one another.
Be Blessed!!!

Hey,
Thank you all for the welcome...What more is there to know about me?? My hobies are dancing, reading, writing, then all the normal stuff like watching television, talking to people and all the rest of that boring stuff. I have a girlfriend that attends school with me as well. She is a health and human performance majors. I am in the Houston area. I am just on a quest to overcome the pain and the struggles I am going through with openly coming out. I am still in the drama phase and my girlfriends mom is still trying to do all kinds of things to hurt me indirectly and she thinks I'm the reason her daughter is this way. Even though her daughter came out to her a long time ago. But I dont know. Trying to deal with the hurt.

If your friend's mother assumes and expects the worst of you, your best response can only be to always treat her well, and never take the bait, if you feel like you may be being set up. You can always come here, and ask us for help if you feel you need it. And there is almost always something interesting to read.
Peace and Love, Bruce Chris
Welcome godschild,
Nice to meet ya and looking forward to knowing you.
"We are not all Christians here but many of us are and those of us who are NOT are REALLY REALLY nice people anyway!! "
I think what u-dog meant to say was: "everyone here is a Christian, but some don't realize it yet."

Hi Michelle,
I am also from the Houston area and came out much later than you did. I applaud you for your courage and strength in doing so. My parents blame my wife for bringing me down, so I know where you are coming from. It took a long time to come to this place, but only you and your gf know how you feel about each other, and sometimes parents can't see past their own expectations of their child(ren) to try to understand how they feel and that it MIGHT not be what the parents expected them to be. Just continue to pray for them and for your gf. What church do you attend? Just curious, because ours just folded earlier this year and my wife and I are still looking for a new one.

I think what u-dog meant to say was: "everyone here is a Christian, but some don't realize it yet."
Or you could say that everyone is a pagan, A Buddhist, a christain etc :D (meaning we are all connected to each other and nature) and some don't know it yet
I am a druidic pagan who embraces the message of Christ.
What is common to all is unconditional love of self and others.
Zerbie embraces the best of spirituality. I call her a messianic druidic buddhist :)
Welcome home!
Namaste (peace, love, harmony, joy and light from me to you)

Orthodox Baha'i? Is that possible? Not being snide (mostly), just clueless? Are you joking, or do I need an explanation/education?

The not-too-inside joke is that the Baha'i believe that all love based religions are really the same, and only the names they chose are different.

Well, that was what I thought ... and I know your sense of humor, but then I got nervous about offending in case there was something I was missing.
In that case ... HAHAHAHAHA! Good one.

u guys are silly. u crack me up. thank u for all the warm welcomes!!! and to a reply to one of the posts. I used to go to New Light Christian Center Church, but since I came out, I just go to a church that is here on campus. My old church teaches and prays against "the homosexual demon." Yea so...im not sure of a gay friendly church, but they say a lot of methodist churches do accept it, but i dont know because my girlfriends mom hates it and she's methodist so who knows.
I think there may be some statistics on Methodists. About one third are very much pro-LGBT. Probably most don't get too into the issue, and there is a definite anti-gay crowd among Methodists. Some congregations are really LGBT friendly and have alot of LGBT members. Some congregations and pastors may be hostile.
One could probably say much the same about other denominations.
I attended a really fabulous conference of LGBT United Methodists and their parents this past summer. About 450 gathered in Nashville at Vanderbilt University in August. Here's a link to a website for this Methodist group--the Reconciling Minsitries network http://www.rmnetwork.org/
