Okay geniuses ;).
Hubby just discovered that this weekend is the last weekend he will have free for months. He asked me out on an official date for tomorrow (Saturday) - but the thing is, we've been in a movie rut for a while. That's our thing: got a night off, we go to the movies.
What else is there for a boring couple to do when the weather is 105 even at night? My first thoughts were things like a day at the zoo, a night with a telescope looking at stars - but it's too hot so we need to stay indoors.
I know you creative types could come up with fun and COOL things to do!!

I happened to run into a married couple I know tonight, they were grocery shopping and told me this was their Friday Night Date....I just smiled and said, "at least you are still dating." Of course, grocery shopping would not be my idea of a date...but I guess what I would ask is what is something that you both enjoy doing but have not had the chance to do for awhile. I am for anything dealing with candle light...dances, dinners, etc.

Well, I'm a big art museum lover....
Or if you wanted to stay in the house, you could make a cool, sexy pavilion by hanging sheets up in the living room...put some cushions down.... reclining, feed each other grapes and read to each other....
You could go for a nice drive...day trip...go see something cool from the cool confines of your car (if your car has nice air conditioner, of course...my old rustbuckets in Oklahoma were always air conditioning free....) Got any Frank Lloyd Wright stuff nearby? How far are you from mountains? Drive up into the altitudes...grab a cheap hotel room and spend a fun night somewhere together.
Hmmmmm....that's all I got for now... Hope you enjoy yourself!

 Actually, we've got Gammage Auditorium right in the middle of our everyday turf - for some reason FLW was pissed off, so it looks like a toilet.
Hmmm. Maybe the museum idea might be best. And I haven't been to the one in Phoenix since I've lived here. I like it! Thanks!
I love all the romantic meal at home ideas, candles and all, but the trouble is, hubby is the type who needs to get outside and go somewhere.

It's a bit cliche' but have you considered bowling? You could take another couple if you're feeling competitive. After bowling you could maybe go have a bite to eat.
If bowling isn't your thing, how about a scenic drive up into the mountains and dinner at a resort restaurant.

horseback riding...
going to an elegant lounge... sipping martinis and listening to a sultry jazz singer
wine tasting...
crash a random person's party...
go kayaking on a lazy river...
plan a midnight picnic... with candles, wine, etc... by the lazy river...
go to a dinner party...
walk around downtown & try a new restaurant... spontaneously
volunteer at the spca, go home & get cleaned up... and go to a gala...
serve in a soup kitchen... then go dancing
go dancing...
watch a foreign film in a language you don't know without the subtitles... with a bottle or two of nice wine...
invite another couple for a double date...
(did I mention I'm single... all these great ideas... and no one to try them out on! :D )

After 30 years of marriage I have found that the event we do together is somewhat unimportant if my wife believes I spent the evening focased on her.
Now if you want to do something nice for him just let him watch TV till about 10:30 pm, have sex, then let him watch some more TV. (Throw in a couple beers around 8:00)
And what ever you do don't ask him how he feels about anything!

find a place to go contra-dancing. Or more likely in Arizona... square dancing. Contra-dancing is traditional appalachian/new England kind of dancing. If you've ever done a Virginia Reel at a square dance ...its like that. Two opposing lines of dancers and you move up or down the line dancing a the same same figure over and over with different partners (or different couples depending on whether it is a "proper" or "improper" dance). Contra-dancing is generally done by "cooler" people than square dancing. They usually have a time before the dance when the teach the dances to newbies.
even cooler than that would be Swing Dancing. thats becoming very popular again these days.

David's one the money here ...
To say....some Latin club....Salsa......or a Tango place......
And if hubby says he can't do it.....teach him. That can be fun....sexy too.
And if you both have left feet.....
Pretend!
Finding new ways to move can unlock at kinds of energy.

...but I might have suggested some birdwatching (outdoors, fun, hiking, and new scenery). All you need is an auto with gas, binocular (or two), map, and a birding guide to Arizona. Night? No worries, how about owls, whipporwils, and the like! There are some rare hummers that show up in AZ from So. America. I think there are about 28 species of resident and vagrant hummers that are AZ regulars.
If it was day, I would suggest a tour of Arabian horse ranches, numerous in the Scottsdale area. Most are quite extravagant and the hosts are generous and kind. You could learn all about Arabian horses, horse shows and see some beautiful (and famous) animals. And it would be somewhat outdoors and somewhat indoors. Would have taken some planning tho (at least a few phone calls to warn them of your visit).
Um, otherwise, my sweetie and I like to go out to dinner, possibly some dancing and then hang out at home. Maybe an evening dip in our little blow up swimming pool. I really like the museum ideas too!!
So...what did you end up doing? (If you took Sailaway's advice, you don't have to tell...):D:love:

My wife and I just love to be together doing whatever. When you have kids, it is just pleasurable to have time to yourselves and get to be together. So whatever you two like to do together just do it, smile, have fun and thank each other for wasting their time on you.:D

Before my garndparents died (62 years together) They got pretty good at hall sex. They would walk by each other in the hall and Grandma would say, "F*#K YOU" to which Grandpa replied, "F!*k YOU TOO!"
Sorry, that is not true at all but I love that joke.
