I’m Rev. Kittredge Cherry, a lesbian Christian author, minister and art historian. I was ordained by Metropolitan Community Churches and served as National Ecumenical Officer until Chronic Fatigue Syndrome forced me into a more contemplative life. My newest book is Art That Dares: Gay Jesus, Woman Christ, and More. (http://jesusinlove.org/art-that-dares.php/)
I operate a website, JesusInLove.org (http://jesusinlove.org/), which offers spiritual resources for LGBT people and their allies. Recently I launched a new a queer spirituality blog, Jesus in Love (http://jesusinlove.blogspot.com/).
I’m interested in creating artistic and literary images of Jesus as gay or female as a way to heal homophobia/sexism and free people to connect with God in new ways. It’s important because Christian rhetoric is being used to justify hate and discrimination against women and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.
I’ve known Mel White since before he founded Soulforce and am happy to be getting more involved with Soulforce now. I look forward to getting to know people through these forums.
