I wonder how much things have changed since then?

"I think it's more like a disability--like someone who is dyslexic."
I don't know why I find this comment to be so funny!
I guess it reminds me of some quote I heard about homosexuality being a sickness, and that we should all call off work: If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work: "Hello. Can't work today, still queer." Robin Tyler
and yeah, I'd like to know if things have changed any.

THanks, Keltic. I never heard that and laughed out loud at my desk. Thanks for the humor, I needed it. Vanessa

this quote I find interesting:
"We will always be drawn to our roots and will never be perfect this side of the cross."
Roots, as in origins, basics?... I think he, without meaning to, implies that homosexuality is the way were created. Perhaps God made us this way.
And he is 100% right that we'll never be perfect.
My struggle is not with God... my shame is not because of God, but because of the atmosphere I am a part of here. I think Christians can be homosexuals, and happy, if they can rise above the paradigms and judgments of their peers.

Yes, I caught that too. If you get them to talk long enough, they do say the very things that they believe to be true.

From the article:
"I believe sexual orientation is a learned behavior and can be unlearned."
I wonder if they believe that heterosexuality is also a learned behavior? I got the impression that when he said "sexual orientation," he was really only referring to non-heterosexuals.

Thanks for that Keltic - got my laugh for the day!!
Maybe we should try a 'sick out' and all call in sick across the nation. Have you ever seen the movie, A Day Without a Mexican. All the Mexicans in California vanished and the state nearly shut down. We could have a "Day Without a Gay" - it would definitely be a wakeup call especially if the GLBT people didn't have a choice to disappear.
Just a thought, and I'll keep chuckling over this one all day!

Technically it might not include all B and T's, but G & Ls for sure - but you get my gist..

I am a Christian and I am gay. There is no doubt in my mind that I am a Christian. There is also no doubt in my mind that I am a lesbian.
Now my two homophobic sisters are praying that I will reconcile with my ex husband because they say it is not God's will for me to live in this decadent lifestyle. However, they don't involve themselves in my life to know one way or the other if God's will is being accomplished in my life or not. Moreover, my wife and I are not allowed in their houses or around their children as if you can "catch" my lesbianism. Oh my gosh! Can we be more melodramatic? One of my sisters slept with me from age 4 until we were 16. She is not a lesbian and I am. Hmmm! Do ya think I caught it and just hung onto it? Please!!!
Yes Christians can be gay.

Judging by the number of gay Christians I know, I'd say "Yes, there certainly can be, and there ARE". Can there be left-handed people who are not witches>? Of course. I'm not sure I understand the root of the question. Lots of combinations exist in this world. Some of those combinations seem to blow some people's minds. Why is that? Should we always go to the lowest common denominator to set standards of what is possible? I think not. But that's just me.

Wow, that would be awesome!!! It's really catchy, too. The only hangup I see is that some people, especially in states like mine where discrimination based on sexuality isn't illegal, would probably face major consequences at work. I'm blessed to be in a job right now that supports me and the fact that I'm gay.

keltic that was great! Let's go farther with it.
Scenario-(Thanksgiving Day) "Uh Mom? Sorry, I can't come to Thanksgiving dinner because I woke up today and I am still feeling a little lesbian. Can't seem to quite shake it."
OMG that was too funny!:)

A July 2001 article from Charisma Magazine.
Couldn't get to the article with that address. I believe this is the correct one now. Did they change it recently?

Nathan, you wondered if things have changed much since the article was written. Yes, I think so. Gay christians are way more involved than they were then.
It's interesting that other articles advise readers to avoid hate language and stereotypes. In essence, they seem to be trying to look nice while holding the same views. This is telling.

As a fag, I am often seen as sick, immoral, confused and a target. But as a Christian, I am seen as worse... Which do you think concerns God the most?

When I said, "feeling a little lesbian" I meant I was actually feeling lesbian, not feeling a lesbian. Big difference!!! I know what you mean, though. Didn't mean to include innuendo in my post. Sorry!

Awe, what makes you think god is looking at those things? :shifty:
Anyway, to address your question, someone would have to presume to speak for god and make a hairsplitting value judgement that would really reflect our/their own projection, not god's infallible view of you.
I want to say I love you both as a fag and a christian. If you're a really fundamentalist gay christian then it will be easier for me to love you as a fag. Fortunately god, unlike humans, loves us unconditionally!

revtj, I do think God observes such things because they are the experiences He can live vicariously through us. Good and bad...
The blurb was something I wrote a few years ago as a caption for a photograph that was appearring in a contraversial art show that was going to be protested by a local church. It reflects my concern for the growing trend to Christian bash, which I take more seriously than gay bashing as that is fading away (praise God). I dredged it up because I thought it oddly appropriate in my backward way. The secular mainstream dislikes Christianity more than homosexuality.
Can one even be a fundementalist Christian Gay? I've noticed the term, the other 'F' word is a taboo subject around here. How liberal must I get? (rhetorical)
...and I love you too!;)
