There was a piece in this weekend's Planet Out about this being one of the top 5 gay film shooting locations, where the movie Desert Hearts was shot, which came out in 1985. It brought back some very old, and very strong memories for me.
I saw it when it first came out, and instantly fell in love with Patricia Charbonneau, or at least her charactor. A small part of me wanted to have her, but mostly I just wanted to BE her, or at least be with her. I went back, and saw it again, many times.
Adapted from Jane Rule's book "Desert of the Heart", this movie has often been called the definitive lesbian love story, or at least unquestionably the first of any serious substance, in movie form. If any of you are serious film buffs, lesbians, or better yet BOTH, you have GOT to get a video, or DVD and take into your soul this wonderful experience. Or better yet, just go out and buy a copy at Amazon.
Let me see now, I can tell you exactly where I was when I first heard of the Kennedy assasination, where I was when I first heard about the Challenger disaster, and when, where and who I was with when I first saw "Desert Hearts".

Zerbie, and Jen, and others of the next generation, you have a wonderful experience awaiting you.
Peace, and Much Love, Bruce Chris
