On behalf of the Staff & Board of Directors, please allow me to welcome all of you to our new Community Forums and thank you for your enthusiastic support of Soulforce. The coming year promises to be an exciting one as we all work together toward social justice. Many of you already know about our Equality Ride (thanks to all the riders!) and very soon we will be unveiling details for the 1000 Watt Walk, Vigil, & Concert, July 16-22, 2006. The 7 day walk is 65 miles from the steps of the Denver State Capitol Building to the entrance of James Dobson's "Focus on the Family" headquarters in Colorado Springs. Modeled after the spirit of Gandhi's 1930 Salt March and the many marches of the civil rights movement, our goal is to show the link between unjust legislation (symbolized by the Denver State Capitol Building) and the false antigay teachings of Focus on the Family. We will also offer a 3 day march (approx 27 miles) and an option for folks to walk the last 3 miles with us leading up to Focus (so that we arrive in mass). We will arrive at sunset on July 22, surround Focus for a silent vigil holding lights (a "circle of light") and afterwards enjoy a high-powered concert under the stars.
