Everyone does have a junk drawer, right? Mine had a whole garage in it (when I was living in a studio...which I've done all my adult life...which is what makes my new place with Dash so exciting, but...[I know, I know] I digress).

Anyhoo, yes, Zerbie, not only are you flawless (as I knew you'd be), BUT your avatar [and, btw, what the hell kinda word is avatar?? I mean, really! Alright, alright, digressing...sorry]...your avatar is sooooooo much like you! You really nailed it!

Don't any of you easterners know what a pika is? (giving a look of disgust.)

Any westerner in the Rocky Mountains would know that; they're all over the place.
Maybe we should have some sort of contest with a challenge of knowledge between east and west. (Zerbie and I will write the questions.)

You easterners might have us outnumbered, but we're cooler.
Well maybe Zerbie isn't so cool down there in Arizona, but we are here in the high country of Colorado. Downright chilly in the mornings actually.

$32 for all the work you do Zerbie. It sounds like a bargain to me and a very good idea. Count me in.

Oh but you are gorgeous my dear!

If you think Zerbie is gorgeous in her picture, you should see her in person!!! (Yes, I got to have a 3D meeting with our own lovely Z this past Sunday!!!)

I just got home from my work trip late last night, so no laptop to get on-line and no time since I've been home. But I'll catch up this week -just wanted to mention that I was a very lucky (and blessed) girl to not only meet our famous Z in person, but her equally lovely DH (that would be dear hubby) as well. We had a very yummy dinner at The Landmark restaurant in Mesa, interesting conversation and then, all to soon, we had to part.

It was awesome!!! Z is absolutely just as beautiful, sweet, kind, smart, witty, caring, intelligent (and a host of other attributes) as she appears on the forums. What you think you'll see, you will get and more. It was wonderful Zerbie, can't wait for the next one!

Ok, meanwhile, guess I should put off procrastinating and add to the 7SN cache. Let me know if there are any phone calls I can make for you, I don't know anyone in AZ and I'm not influential, but perhaps if we flood the mayor's office with calls and emails he/she will speak????

That was a charactor in a Robert Heinlein novel, I think. (Dune? No, that was by Frank Herbert)

A circular argument is nonverifiable, of course.

Zerbie, you are ravishing, of course.

And the pika is one of Zerbie's stuffed critters, of course. (Edit)

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

WOWZA!! Mmmmmm, I hafta print this thread out now and post it to the mirror to look at it on yucky days.

Yes, we had a terrific time the other night! Tdogg is a sheer delight in person. She was very forgiving of my confusion at suddenly having to drive in RAIN after 4.5 years living in the desert (yes folks, it actually RAINED here the other night.) And she has impeccable taste in menu items. ;) Significantly, she met the plush horses and they instantly loved her.

Alas, the pictures are 35 mm and in my camera, which means that unless my computer literacy advances significantly in the near future, it might be 2010 before they get posted here. But the thought of ya'll WAS there as we posed for our forum posting pics. Maybe I'll get hubby to upload the photos FOR me.

Zerbie, you are ravishing, of course.

Maud'dib was the character Paul Orestes Atreides, leader of the Freman in Frank Herbert's Dune trilogy.

Maud'Dhib, however, throws me - and Google wasn't any help as far as I could tell.

You may laugh, but except when these weird summer monsoons arrive, it has only rained here, lessee. . . I think it rained once last winter, and maybe twice the winter before that? Who knows? Maybe my memory is messing up, but I cannot recall the last time I drove in rain before Sunday night.

It was like when I moved to Houton from NJ and the first time it snowed - light flurries - the entire city SHUT DOWN. Because no one has snow tires. There is no ice for breaking up the snowy roads, bla bla bla. But I was like, "what's WRONG with these weird people in Texas that they shut down the city over 3 snow flurries?" Well, then ya find out.

Yesterday was the most beautiful morning, the sun was out, it was not too warm or cool, the birds were abundant, and I had to go inside for my last day of training in Tempe. Oh, to have had a few hours, walking boots and my binocular!!!! It was like the Sunday rain cleared out that part of the world Z!

Itching to return to the area with more free time, but next year the training will be in Denver....maybe something will come up in the meantime and I'll actually get to bird the Phoenix area! The Buttes (as in LONG 'u' folks) were gorgeous!

Yeah, we'll soon have headlines (maybe even tomorrow) here in Sac:
WILD END OF SUMMER STORM IN THE VALLEY

Which really means we had some light winds and a few sprinkles. Strangely tho, everyone will forget how to drive and it means a rush of accidents on the freeway at rush hour....thank goodness I live 4 minutes from work!!

tdogg

Ok, folks, it's finally here!

The WILD END OF SUMMER STORM!

A few raindrops, a light wind, some thunder and lightening...it will most certainly be the top news headline tomorrow. I'll keep you informed of our dire weather situation here in Sacramento.

Meanwhile, pray for us PLEASE, that not only will there be enough umbrellas on the store shelves to go around, but that those behind the wheels of cars will not go completely insane and cause accidents.

Ok! Your prize is in the mail (Oh king of the geeks) In the movie (the made for TV one that was actually GOOD) it was an actual dessert rodent that was named "Maud'Dib" probably because it was easier to convey in a few seconds of film than "a mouse shadow of the second moon"
