I finally landed the job I've been after for almost a year! On October 22, I will become an official employee of the Commonwealth of PA (go state workers!) ...
Specifically, I will become a counselor in the State Department of Corrections ... advantages include:
1. Getting back into mental health field, which I miss.
2. MAJOR pay raise, outstanding benefits.
3. Possibility for promotions (which doesn't exist where I am now).
4. Challenge! I've grown very bored with what I do now ... too much computer work, too little people work.
5. State jobs in PA have LGBT protection! (nice bonus)
6. DOC direct-service jobs (working directly with inmates) are age 50 retirement ... leaving enough time (one hopes) for yet another career afterwards!
7. No weekend work for a change!
Disadvantage ...
I currently live in an employee rental property at my job, and will have to move. Hate moving. Considering fire-bombing the place instead (not really).
