View Full Version : What Zerbie is doing for us.
Hey gang,
As most of you know, our own dear Zerbie is hosting one of the Seven Straight Nights efforts (Phoenix, Arizona). She is way to modest to say anything, so I'll say it for her. Below is a list of some of the things that Zerbie has done to pull this off:
* contact media
* media interviews
* draft, revise, update news releases for said media
* create the metro area concept of 7SN, and refine it
* outreach to the community to invite participants
* create, print, copy, mail, & post flyers all around the area
* announce 7SN in all publicly published event's calendar's
* make speaker requests, follow up with speaker requests, confirm speakers, take speaker bio's for media
* obtain battery operated A/V equipment strong enough for use on a busy street-corner
* print 7SN banner logo and have it professionally mounted on a foam core sign for our press conference and photo op
* create home-made signs
*shop for sign materials, scrapbook materials, candles, candle-holders, water-bottles, coolers, etc.
* answer everyone's phone calls & questions
I happen to know that Zerbie is pretty much doing this single handedly in her town. I am so impressed and amazed at her generosity. Jesus said that there is no greater love than to give up your life for a friend. Zerbie exemplifies this "love." She doesn't just talk about it, she does it. I happen to know, for instance, that she even gave up an audition for a part that she wanted because she has been busy doing Seven Straight Nights.
I am amazed by Zerbie and people like her who are spending themselves for me and for the GLBT community. I am touched that people would care this much.
Though Zerbie would never ask for or expect it, she deserves our gratitude and recongnition. I know most of you here would agree, so I thought I would let you know because she would never say anything and give you the opportunity.
I think I just outted Zerbie again.

OMG I'm really embarassed. :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o
Everyone organizing a Seven Straight Nights event is doing the same work!! That's just the kind of undertaking it is, and it involves all those kinds of activities.
There are scores of other people doing the same things right now.

Well now that I'm over the initial embarassment I'll repeat what I told Paul privately about working on 7SN. It is SO incredibly EASY to want to do this - I jump out of bed mornings b/c I can't wait to get back to work on this project.
Over the years, I have received such immense love from the LGBT friends, teachers, and colleagues I have known that no amount of fussing over a street-corner vigil can possibly begin to equal it. :disagree: I am so honored to be a part of the Seven Straight Nights project, I can barely say anything at all.
I love my friends more than words can say. Thank you for what you've given me; I hope this gesture will be able to reflect in some small measure just how incredibly loved you are.

People like Zerbie are amazing to me. That's why people like me can show up and enjoy all that has been done. I will say that based on my correspondence with the guy doing Indy, Andy Burnette, the 7 days should bring lots of attention to our cause.
Hey Zerbie, thanks for all you are doing!
My wife asked if I thought there would be any confrontation. What do any of you think?

And my gay friends are amazing to me!! They make it easy for me to stand up and do this.
Thank you Sailor for lending your voice to your local 7SN project. I feel so privileged to be part of such an amazing group of caring, loving people.
I'm hoping there will be plenty of awareness of our endeavors. Went to a community forum here in Phx last night, and many people had already heard about 7 Straight Nights - so the word is getting out there in the activist community - now we've gotta get it out there to all our neighbors as well.
Confrontation? Oh, possibly, but I somewhat doubt it, and do not foresee it becoming an issue. There have been plenty of Prides with protestors holding signs nearby, and those people have the right to free expression. No big thing. They are not our focus. Love is. :love::dove:

I've spent some time on the phone with Zerbie and just want to add how grateful I am for her dedication to Seven Straight Nights for Equal Equal Rights and Soulforce.
We need more people like her. I now support cloning. Thank you Zerbie!

Z, you totally rock! Thank you so very much, for all you are doing, all you do and all you have done, but mostly for just being you.
:love::D:love::cookie:
Your efforts are not only making it a better world for GLBT people (like US :love:), but every person in this country. Really, you would probably be incredibly amazed if you really knew how many people you have touched with your heart and your work.
Thanks!

I am sitting here with tears running down my face. :'(
I really don't know what to say. :'( I'm glad other people are doing the public speaking at our vigil, that's for sure.

Just think, we can all say that "We knew that amazing woman back then...." You really are just so amazing, and I consider you a blessing, for doing this. Yes, others are going forward on our behalf as well, but this thread is for acknowledging and thanking YOU for your efforts. I am moved by your willingness to step up and "out" on our behalf, more than many of us have been able to do for ourselves. I have many straight allies, but not many of those, if any, would take this public step forward.
I am hugging you across the miles..................:love:

Haven't heard from you in a while - how is the new job?

:( That is just so sad. I know it can be scary to take a public stand on LGBT rights, but compared to the sheer awesomeness of the people these issues affect, well - I'd be a lot more scared if I didn't stand with my friends. I am really, really proud that so many amazing people have given me their friendship. I'm gonna crow about it. :p:D:cool::cool:

Just another of the many voices thanking you and all our allies for the amazing work that is being done on Seven Straight Nights. It makes it even more meaningful having you be such an integral part of the forums for all this time. Kara

Move over Gary Cooper! This one's for Zerbie! (Though I can imagine her as Ingrid......)

Ella sings.....
I know too well that I'm
Just wasting precious time
In thinking such a thing could be
That you could ever care for me.
I'm sure you hate to hear
That I adore you, dear,
But grant me, just the same,
I'm not entirely to blame, for...
You'd be so easy to love,
So easy to idolize, all others above,
So sweet to waken with,
So nice to sit down to the eggs and bacon with.
We'd be so grand at the game,
So carefree together that it does seem a shame
That you can't see
Your future with me
'Cause you'd be, oh, so easy to love...
You'd be so easy to love,
So easy to idolize, all others above,
So worth the yearning for,
So swell to keep ev'ry home fire burning for.
Oh, how we'd bloom, how we'd thrive
In a cottage for two, or even three, four or five,
So try to see
Your future with me
'Cause you'd be, oh, so easy to love...

Zerbie!
You deserve all this praise. You and all the other wonderful Soulforce volunteers from this forum! : )
September 30th is Rumi's birthday, and in this special Rumi year ... in reference to the Rumi quote in your signature line ... you are definitely one of the lovers!
Hugs,
Sherrie Z
