Hello all,

I'm new around here and before I start posting I thought I would introduce myself. I'm currently a 1st year seminarian Master of Divinity student at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. My denominational affliation is the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), although I'm seeking dual ordination with the United Church of Christ.

While I'm seeking ordination and feel called to ministry, I also plan on doing doctoral work in biblical studies, specifically the Hebrew bible. I'm something of a biblical studies, theology, and philosophy geek. I'm passionate about issues of social justice-especially around GLTBQ issues (I'm bisexual), issues of economic justice, and differently-abled advocacy. My hobbies include: reading, singing, and playing my violin and harpsichord.

I'm glad to be a part of this community!

Kristina

Welcome!
:) :) :)
It's nice to see someone from Berkeley, my dad went to seminary there(UCC) so our family lived in student housing for 2.5 years. I loved it there, still miss it.

Do you like the area? What are some of your favorite places to go?

I love the violin! It's such a beautiful instument and seems very difficult and delicate to play. I'm not very musically inclined myself.

It's interesting that you want to be dually ordained. It's great that you can relate so well to two groups that you want to be leaders in both.

I think you'll find that many people in this organization share your passion for social justice.

Quite a few seminarians actually opt for dual ordination out here (at least at PSR). In my case, Disciples of Christ and UCC have a very close relationship, so it really makes sense. It allows me to do ministry all over the country, especially as UCC has many more open and affirming congregations.

I love it out here! Although I'm getting tired of the rain! A group of us actually enjoy hanging out at La Val's pizza playing pool, eating cheap pizza, drinking wine, and discussing theology. I really enjoy the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra.
