I attend a bimonthly fellowship of LGBT Christians. I am the only transgender person in the group. Most of the members are gay. I have been able to share numerous things about being transgender. They have shared with me many things about the gay community and being gay. One thing that rings clear is that my brothers and sisters are comfortable with their sexuality.
Over the past month, my love for the gay and lesbian community has deepened. There have been nights that I lie awake in bed weeping over you. What disturbs me the most is people who call themselves Christians have such a negative attitude toward gay people. How many men and women who love the Lord have left their church because of their sexual orientation?
I have asked myself why I discovered my transgenderism so late in life? I never went through many of things many have suffered and experienced. This I do know; that God's love is unconditional and without reservation. this is the love I desire for myself and for everyone. I am a member of American Veterans for Equal Rights. I joined them over joining a straight veterans group because I felt comfortable being with them.
I pray for the LGBT community daily. I want to share God's love and good news with men, women, and youth. There are many who want to know that someone loves them and cares about them. Just yesterday, I send a message to a gay man who lost his partner a year ago. He is still grieving over the sudden loss. I gave him my email so we can correspond. I wish that we could just sit together and pray and offer comfort.
I just want to conclude that I love you and care about you. I want to embrace Jesus example of loving unconditionally. I count you as my friends. I would love to know more LGBT people personally. That will come in due time.
In Love,
Gennee
