Sorry I been gone for a while yall, pretty sure yall didnt notice anyway :love::p, but I been going to a bible study group and I been speaking my mind there and, I was told one thing last week that for some reason struck a chord somewhere within me. The guys leading the group came to me and said that I have a calling, that they feel I am destined for something, and It surprisingly made me stumble spiritually, I found myself questioning everything, it again brought up the question why me?? If its true then why me? Why did I have to grow so fast, learn all these lessons people go through life without knowing? And most of all, why did that affect me so much? How come I cant just shrug it off as I shrug everything else off that I tink is too much trouble? So thats why I been gone, just wanted to explain I guess, been off meditating on these questions and just wanted to share and see what you harumphers had to say :p:D:love:
and bout the title of this thread, Im reffering to what should I do, save my money up for a car? or buy this one car off my mom? I dont wanan get into business wit my mom, itll cause to much trouble -_-" but shes selling it to me rather cheap haha so Idk wat to do????

Jorge,
You know and we know and God knows that YOU ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE F-ING CAR!!!! ;) so, I'm not gonna talk about it either except to say that if you feel uneasy about entering a business deal with your mom... don't do it. Thats a relationship that is complicated enough without adding money to the list.
If I understood you correctly you have been participating in a Bible Study and as a result of your participation the leaders came to you and said that they discern a possible "call" in you and that you are "destined" for something. Does it help for me to say that this does NOT surprise me? You are an intelligent, sensitive, mature person with a lot of life experience for your age. You also have a deep and obvious trust in God. God "calls" everyone to something and EVERYONE has a "destiny", but I think I know what it is that the Bible Study leaders are referring to. You also strike ME as someone on whom God has his finger.
As for the "Why me?" question. Read your Bible. EVERY SINGLE PERSON whom God calls to do something important asks that question. Moses asks it in front of the burning bush, Gideon asks it, David asks it. Jesus asks it in Gethsemane and from the cross. Everything that you have been through has shaped and "tempered" you (tempering is a process in steelmaking -- by repeatedly heating and cooling the steel it is made harder and more resilient) You are becoming (and probably already are) the "shape" you need to be to do the work God has for you to do. Shaping, honing, tempering, sharpening --- these things HURT LIKE HELL! and we often want to tell God "Oh just stop it and leave me alone!" and "WHY can't I be like other people?" God doesn't mind us asking that or saying that... he also doesn't stop with the shaping, the pounding, the grinding, the heating, or the cooling. Its like my Mom used to say:
"You can say "no" to God. You can it a thousand times. You can say it as long as you want and as loud as you want... until you finally say "yes". Of course the flip side to that is that jesus encourages us to be JUST as annoyingly persistent with God when we pray ... to ask and ask and ask until we get an answer.
Now... can I ask you a favor? Will you go over to the thread "My Call" and give me this EXACT SAME pep talk? (seriously, I would appreciate the benefit of your wisdom on this same quandry in my own life):)

Gah, I really needed that I guess, although I do believe there is something everyone is meant to fulfill, I dont think anything I would do in my lifetime would be any more special than what anyone else would do, Its just so confusing that this is making me feel even more out of place than before, :/, Ill just have to go day by day I guess.
And thanks dsdrane, SOMEONE noticed :p:D

Jorge,
I have no doubt that God does indeed have plans for you. I used to think that I wasn't a very important player in the God's plan because I was so shy. I have come to realize as I have gotten older that indeed I am an important part of God's work even though I am not one who stand out in a crowd.
I noticed from you very first post that you have a great gift to communicate. I liked you instantly because of your honesty and willingness to interact. Don't be surprised if a lot is expected of you; I am certain that you have a lot of talent. I can see it just from meeting you here online.
My advice on cars. Nothing can drain the money from your wallet like automobiles. Go the cheap, easy route; that's what I do. I get something basic and drive it till it falls apart. (Actually I have only bought two vehicles in my life and I still drive both of them.)

I think you are asking the wrong question. I suspect the better question is:
Why not you?
Did you think you weren't important and special and worthy? And Loved and entrusted? Can or should you shrug off these things?

Jorge- Two things. The first being....
1) listen to yourself.
If your inner voice says 'don't do business with mother' -don't do it! No matter how she may try to talk you into it. You will only have trouble.
2) trust yourself.
It's great that others think you are destined for great and wonderful things. However, one has to be careful that this 'listening' to others. Having a goal/agenda validated by others is nice, but that's not the same thing as having someone else's goal/agenda imposed you. It's up to you to discern the difference.
It has to come from inside.

It pains me to say it... but once again Daniel is right.
What I say next may seem to contridict it... but I do not believe that it does.
A young girl in my church (your age) finally got clarity that God might be calling her to ministry. she announced this to family, friends, and church this summer, expecting everyone to be surprised and amazed. The universal response, however, was: "you didn't know that? We've known that for years. Where have you been?"
My point is that while the "call" the sense of "destiny" and the deep appreciation of your gifts must be an internal thing -- just as Daniel says... don't be surprised when others see it in you also... sometimes before you see it yourself.

Yea I saw that too, they might try to impose their beliefs on me, I have no doubt in my mind everyone has a purpose in life and I guess it comes down again to the very question humans have been asking for years and years, What is that purpose?
