Men's Passion for Violence
For centuries violence has played an enduring role in the upbringing of human history. From the American Revolution to the Iraqian War,mankind has always struggled inside the "warbox". As Judith Butler said in Issue 2 of The Believer Magazine, "Peace is a resistance to the terrible satisfactions of war." However we all know these events are due because of the hunger for power between men. Whether it's trying to be the best basketball player or the greatest dictator there ever was. Men has never ceased to hold back their greed for authoruity and power over others. Why is this so? Can this be stopped? You masy ask. Well I ask you this: Is it possible to stop something that seems to be almost like an animalistic instinct or a natural emotion? Will all men eventually come to an understanding, resulting to maybe peace on Earth ? These are the questions of Men's Passion for Violence.
Why is it so?
Dominance and power are often the keys of survival in the animal world. It is alomost required for a male to show his competence over other males and show them who's "boss."In most cases this causes a challenge where as the two males conflict in a duel to prove who's best .Notice anything familiar? Even though we may seem to be superior than the other animals of the animal kingdom,we are suprisingly very similar. In the human world these things happen all the time, between classmates in school, siblings in your own home, and even your fellow co-workers at your own workplace. Day-to-day violence between men has grown to such intensity that we often find ourselves resenting each other for the wrong reasons. In some cases it is the fear of something or someone that causes these spiteful emotions to arise. For example, homosexuality betweem men is more contemned then women, because of the fear that this "unatural" phenomenom is something often potrayed as evil, sinful, immoral, or ummanly-like. Why? Well, because many people have expectations of what a "real" man is suppose to be: Real men are strong. Real men fear nothing or no one.Real men love and are attracted to only women. Real men show no mercy or any sign of grieful emotion. Thus, causing violence in where gays are killed or are verbally and physically abused everyday because of men that feare of becoming something that is not often valued. as manly. In other situations these type of things happen because some men find it hard to let a gay male call himself a man. However, as I mentioned before men's passion for competitiveness often resorts to violence aswell.Where as a man must prove that he is worthy of maintaining his title as a "real man". So as you can see fear and the edacity for dominance are only some of the main contributors of violence.
Can this this be stopped?
As a human baby it is only natural for you to eventually stand upright and learn to walk. But also as a child it is natural for you to resort to violence by crying ,screaming or sometimes having tantrums, when you do not get your way.Now think about a time where you unwilliingly became violent . Therefore, if it is natural for you to be violent, then how can you end something that is not taught, but is already exist deep in your consious at birth? However, the level of violence a person contributes to,is often taught to them or they have picked it up and learned it from past experiences. So if a man is taught to hate those "inferior" to him, what do you think the outcome would be? For something such as violence to be already in your state of mind at birth, then elavated when you are being taught to resent others,it seems impossible to stop. Thus,my answer to this question is no. Violence will be everlasting, unless men no longer contribute to it.
Is or will there be a such thing as peace on Earth?
I'm sure you've heard of the term Peace on Earth. My question to you is, will it ever exist? As I mentioned before men are the main contributors to violence. Therefore if men dont come to an understanding with each other there will be not peace. Thus, tieng in with the previous question :Can this be stopped?".If violence is not stopped ther ewill of course be no peace. For the generations to come men will always find a reason to began a war or to hate something or someone. It is virtually our destiny as humans to be destructive upon this dieing world. It will take a miracle for men and mankind to learn that violence solves nothing, but makes room for more vehemence.
Men will always be destructive. It is a price that we all have to pay. Even though it is natural, it can sometimes be controlled. However, not everyone is willing to be taken advantage of. Men are the reason for war. Men are the reason this world is coming to a slow end. In the future somethings will not change. Some things will get better, while others get worse. It is all in the hands or men and mankind to decide the fate of our future,by no longer enduring violence, But is it the passion of it that keeps me coming back for more.
