Some excuses I've used to justify my own P2P sharing were:
"That TV show/song may never come out (or be available again) on dvd/cd..."
Or the ever popular:
"I usually buy the dvd/cd anyway after having sucked it off the internet for free..."
Both quite valid, in principle, but beyond that it's up to you.
If it's any consolation, if I was an artist, I'd trust you to "steal" from me.. ♪ :agree: :weee: :agree: ♪

"Wrong"? Only you can decide.
Illegal? I think the answer is "sometimes"? I'm not an expert on that bit though. I am pretty sure, as for the illegality, you're a lot less likely to be caught if you're not downloading something REALLY new (like a movie that WILL be out on dvd, but isn't yet) that's not available, because the powers that be realize they're not really losing money on it and are going to focus their efforts towards where they are losing more money.
