...and their colorful signs too!

..event organizer Susan Hurley who said that this was the first time she has ever organized anything larger than a birthday party. Her motivation for taking on such an ordeal is her dedication to improving rights and as she says "it is abhorrent that we [straight people] get to vote on our neighbor's civil rights.."

Seven Straight Nights is truly a long-awaited blessing, demonstrating to the entire Nation that GLBTQ people aren't the only ones who think that we deserve rights.

If anything, I think this effort has has helped to pave the way for "pro-gay" advocates to feel more comfortable speaking out in the future.

Good stuff. :award:

I love that picture!! That's one of my best friends!! She played my first doctoral recital - brilliant pianist.

Oh and that sign? Took me two hours to make.

:love::love::love: Thank you Vanessa!

:D Actually, hubby isn't that tall, it just happens that most of the people in that picture are on the average to shorter side/and/or standing in the grass a few inches below.

Now, I wish I could say I had been calm the whole time, but not til after the press conference. Those pics were posed afterward - during, I was going insane! We started late - for various hectic reasons. On top of that, my phone kept ringing with people who were on their way to find us. If you were ever to see the DVD, you would see me constantly looking around (for late arrivals who I knew were searching for us) and finally cross to the other side of the camera - that's 'cause I had to answer the phone and direct people to us. . . . Anyway, I could barely pay any attention to our speakers at the time, so I'm glad I got to see the DVD! I look like a total spaz on the recording and was very obviously totally distracted.

THank you Patrick! I hope so.
Glad you liked the signs! They took me a while to make.
Like the slogan I coined? "Value ALL Families." I should trademark that.

Awesome Z!! Great signs, great event. Yes, this will have future impact not only on our struggle, but like Patrick says, on opening minds to act, speak and stand up.

Thanks!

THank you Patrick!... Like the slogan I coined? "Value ALL Families." I should trademark that.

I didn't even think about it when I read it, it was just so perfectly simple. But now that you mention it, it just completely dismisses the notion of even thinking about asking the question: "what constitutes a family," or better: "who is a family."

Turns the "family values" phrase on it's head. And the colors too just kind of suck you in: "hmh, what a 'pretty' idea..." :flower:

:D:p See, I discovered new talents! Never knew I could come up with a sign slogan, and certainly never thought I could draw and color a sign! But I made FOUR!!!!! :D

Thank you all so much. To toot my own horn, I think I did a damn good job with it all.

Erm: Is it okay to toot own horns, here? Childhood training just kicked in and I'm like, 'I shouldn't say that.'

I think this is the PERFECT place for one to toot one's own horn (please don't let the men get ahold of this thread, you know what road it will go down with that one......) I mean, we are all growing and evolving and changing around here, and we need to see that in ourselves in order to keep it all in balance and to know where we are headed.

Soak it all in from others, and add to it yourself, that's my motto!! :)

Thanks. I've always had this MO of not mentioning what I do well while emphasizing my weaknesses. I'm questioning how effective that is!!

Dear Zerbie: What an amazing job you two did on this. Great to see pictures. It's been amazing seeing how 7 Straight Nights has developed through these months and caught the attention of so many people, who hadn't been that active previously. Thank you, for all the hard work and creativity you put into this. kara
