View Full Version : Lisa
Hello, I'm Lisa. I live in southern IN with my spouse of 10 yrs and our 6 yr old twins. We attend a UCC church. Just wanted to log on to see what this is all about. Visited site a couple of times. Recently got downsized, so now I have more time to explore.

Indiana is the new San Francisco and Ft. Lauderdale, all rolled into one. :rainbow:Welcome, Lisa. :rainbow:
Just so you know, I am from Indiana, but live in Florida. I still visit my kids pretty often up in Indiana. Here in Florida I attend a UCC, after having been a fundamentalist all my adult life. Quite a switch but I love attending there.
Tim is right! Its nice to have the Hoosier club growing! Can you tell us more about yourself? Are you GLBT? or an ally? Is your spouse your husband? or your wife? Not that it matters... all are welcome here (as long as you aren't mean to GLBT folks!) We are gay and straight and bisexual and transgendered; Christian, pagan, buddhist, jewish, agnostic, and other; married and single and polyamorous; young and old. mutual love and respect under the banner of non-violence is what this community is all about. Jump in and join the fun!
I am LESBIAN--hear me raor! I met my wife (37) ten years ago. I don't know how it happened, but I am 43. I tell everyone my "Mental age" is a mere 28 y/o. We had a ceremony on 5/15/97 and decided to have kids several yrs later. The twins were born in 2001 and I adopted them later that year. Yes, I am listed as Father on birth certificates. lol
We have had a great experience being out with the kids. This is our first yr at public school. I think we freaked their 1st grade teachers out a bit, but we wanted them to know that when the kids say they have 2 moms, they indeed have 2 moms.
I was raised Southern Baptist and wife was catholic. We wanted a more loving religious education/experience for our kids, so we joined a UCC church. Although we are the token GLBT couple, they have been surprisingly open. Look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Lisa,
I am 47 (almost) and I am a lesbian too. I was raised Southern Baptist and my wife was also raised Catholic. I have two daughters from a previous marriage to a man, which thankfully, I left almost 7 years ago. we are members of a UCC church, but I don't know if I like it or not. I like it that it has a place for glbt folks there and has opened its arms for us, but I don't see that it has much of a spiritual basis. It seems it is more socially motivated and not spiritually motivated. At least not the one I go to. What about yours? I guess the Southern Baptist in me would like to have a little more meat in my sermons.

Lisa, I want to welcome you and your family to our forums. Get your spouse to post some, too. And even let the kids post now and then, they're going to be growing up pretty much on line anyway.
Lisa and png, whenever two or more people offer one another honest listening, deep caring and open communication, this is the type of deep emotional experience that I choose to call a spiritual one. If I can find that in a church, that is spiritual enough for me. I would like to tell you about my church:
It's a very wonderful place, with wonderful people.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been downsized, but after all of the flattery that people like u-dog and the others here will give you, you'll probably get such a swelled head that it'll come out about even, anyway.
Hey, you know that you can post photos here, so let's see what the twins look like.
Peace and Love, Bruce Chris
