Greetings and blessings to everyone and obviously I am new to the site and have just signed up.
I just wanted to come in and say hello and wish everyone a great day and maybe even ask what we do here.
I am a Facebook member also and as well as a MySpace member and nothing much happens around there either.
I am a Muslim but feel we all have the same one God and I am not here to convert or to talk about Islam just to discuss what ever there is to dicuss about gays that have situations in various religions and as I said I am Muslim and gay so you can tell how well that goes over in our community.
Especially in Iran.
I am so blessed to live in Canada.
Well not much else to say except thanks and blessings.

welcome home!
I would love to hear how you found Islam being gay. I can't imagine it being a simple path!

Welcome Mohammed!
We are a mixed group here. some of us are gay (most of us, but not all) some straight. Many of us are christians of various traditions, but we also have buddhists, pagans, jews, Mormons, and others. I think that you may be our first Moslem. We all share freely about our religious beliefs but we are very open to hearing from others about their spiritual journeys as well. So don't be bashful about telling us about Islam. you are welcome here and safe. As Scotty said: Welcome home!
We mostly talk about GLBT issues and experiences and religion and things going on in the world. We also joke around and talk about silly things. Sometimes we get mad at each other and argue. Normally, we kiss and make up after a few days. Jump in any place that seems interesting to you and let us know what you are thinking. Let us get to know you.

Welcome!! It's my understanding there is a progressive streak in Islam as there has been in Christianity for some time--though I think Christendom is sadly still mostly made up of old-school fuddy-duds, maybe that will change... I'm curious to hear about your faith and the challenges you face being gay.

Welcome!
It's good to have you hear!
My husband and I were married in Canada--Toronto, to be exact. We have two friends who live in Toronto now. They moved there because they are a bi-national couple (one is a U.S. citizen, the other from Morocco). We are so happy that Canada recognizes the relationships of same-gender couples! If we were younger, we'd probably think about immigrating their ourselves!
My Moroccan friend is Muslim. He was one of the legal witnesses to our marriage and he read the homily that I'd written for the service. It was based on a Christian ceremony, but I did my best to revise it to be more inclusive. It was a wonderful experience, and I was honored to have my Muslim friend participate!
Soulforce is an interfaith organization. Muslims are very welcome (as are those of every faith and no faith). We maybe have too many Christians here, but that's because so many of us are based in the United States---things are changing though, the world is getting more "global" and we are adjusting to that fact.

Hello, Muhammed!
Great to have you with us...I definitely look forward to your perspective(s) and hope you'll jump right in.
By the way, I tried to find a specifically Farsi translation of the Arabic "Allah Akbar" but couldn't. Is it basically the same (making allowances for the transliteration in English)?

Hiya, welcome Muhammed.
I visited Vancouver for a few days in the summer and loved it! Toured the aquarium there and met some beautiful belugas.
