7000 lashes for being gay

Thanks to Daniel for posting about this horrifying incident in Saudi Arabia in which two men were sentenced to 7000 lashes EACH for having sex with one another. The men will be held in prison until this sentence has been carried out incrementally over a long period of time - unless somehow their government can be pursuaded to release them - Amnesty International's efforts have been known to be effective even in apparently hopeless cases, so let's please all join in the effort.

Please click the link below, send an email, and also print, sign, and mail the letters to representatives of the Saudi Arabian government. This is a letter-writing campaign initiated by Amnesty International.

You can do something about this!

Easiest: click the link in the original post above and send an email to the Saudi Arabian government. It's very easy - an excellent letter is already written. You can change it if you want, but with Amnesty, I don't bother because I can't improve upon it, it's already well-written.

Then if you have 5 minutes more, go back to the action center page and click on "printable version," print the letters, sign them, and send them postal mail to Saudi Arabia. Mine are printed and now need postage.
