Hello Everyone!

My name is Becca and I'm currently a senior at Central Michigan University. This is actually my first time ever really using a blog, so please bear with me! It seems a bit overwhelming but hopefully I'll be able to manage.

I would first like to say that this website has been so helpful and informative! It is so great to see such positive messages filled with hope and love. Just last week on my college campus, there was a hate group who stood outside classrooms everyday telling everyone that Jews and Gays (and basically everyone who was not them) that they were going to Hell. It's comforting to see that there are messages of encouragement out there.

The reason I decided to join this blog is because while I am not Gay myself, there are many people in my life who are, including my brother and best friend. It is very important to me that they are the happiest they can be, and if that includes being religious, I want them to know that I support this 100%.

I also joined because I am writing an English paper on the GLBT Christian subculture. My best friend who is a Gay Christian, has decided to abstain from all gay relationships because of his faith. I think this is leaving his life incomplete because we all need loving relationships. I was hoping by writing this paper I could better understand the possible options that he might have. With this paper I have to interview two people who are GLBT Chrisitians. I am in desperate need of one additional interview and if ANYONE is willing to take some time and answer my questions I would be so grateful. I like to think that this paper might make a difference, however small, in the lives of my classmates, and hopefully in my best friend's life.

Well that was quite an introduction! I am looking forward to meeting a few new friends and discovering a few new points of view. Thanks for your time!

Welcome to the Soulforce forums Becca! glad you found us. You couldn't have found a finer place to lose your blog virginity than here! ;)

This place is crawling with gay Christians and at least one of them will be willing to be your guinnea pig. I would do it... but I'm living an alternatively alternative lifestyle that would probably skew your results (I'm a gay man married to a bi woman --for love...not for religious reasons ... go figure ) But be of good cheer there are LOTS of normal abnormal folks here!

Hi Becca,

Welcome to you.,

You will indeed find some wonderful people here. I hope you stick around and be become a regular member of the gang, you life will be enriched.

U-dog is right, there are many Christian gays here who would foot the bill for you quite nicely. He is wrong, IMO, to leave himself out. He would be an excellent resource...he is also a pastor of a church...he, he, so he has some rather unique qualifications. He is sensitive and thoughtful and wise...so if I were you, I'd snap up his offer. Still there are many treasures here.
best wishes,
paul

I too am very fond of these forums, but although I have my cultural roots in the GLBT and feminist communities, (and I'd really be lost without them), I only date the female of the species. So they call guys like us straight allies. I'm sure that you'll find a good prospect soon enough.

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

Hi Becca,

Most happy to have you here! :) Thank you for what you are doing for your family & friends.

I can't participate in your survey b/c I'm not a gay christian, but I second the recommendation that you ask U-dog to participate. He IS married to a woman, but he's also a gay Christian.

There are lots of other folks around here too who you might ask.

Hope you will stick around after your paper is done. This is a fun place with a lot of kind, caring people. Kind of unusual for the internet, so as Dave says, a great place to start (just don't get in the habit of expecting other message boards to be anywhere near this supportive, sadly they usually are not.)
But WE are!

Thanks so much U-Dog! I think an "alternatively alternative lifestyle" would be a great addition to my paper! The assignment is rather flexbile and I have the ability to take it in any direction so if you wouldn't mind I would love to get your point of view! Maybe we can chat more about it?

I still think that Pablo or Brentrichard or PNG or Tdogg would be better choices but go ahead and PM me your questions. I also have yahoo messenger and will PM my ID to you.

Wow thank you so much for the great welcome! Zerbie, I have a feeling I will be sticking around for awhile! Everyone is so intelligent and kind!

I'm glad to see I'm in good company Bruce Chris! I see the people in this forum share my thoughts and opinions, and it's great to see!

Paul, I think I might take you up on your suggestion! He sounds like a wonderful resource!

I can't wait to get started! Thanks again everyone!!

Hey Becca: I just made my way over here to check out your intro. Ditto on the interview thing. If I can be of any help, let me know. I am a lesbian with a life partner (female) of 12 years and we are raising our almost ten year old daughter. Peace out and welcome, Vanessa

Allies are always great!! Every glbtq person needs someone like you in their life! Welcome! My beliefs are basically Christian, but I'm not on fire with zeal, either--I'm struggling. There are many here who can be of help to you. Welcome!
