Personally I the play better ... but it was nice to see some of the original actors back in their roles.

I saw the movie in the theater back in December, and I just bought the DVD less than 2 hours ago.
I like it.

I haven't seen the movie, but was totally unimpressed with the Broadway show. A good friend in NY swears that it was so much better in a tiny theatre at opening, but by the time I saw it on Broadway, it was far too loud (and I don't mind loud if it's good), the diction was so sloppy that I couldn't understand the words, and it seemed much ado about nothing. It could have been a bad night, etc, but at $80, I couldn't afford to give it a second chance. The song that opens Act 2 was extremely good, but one song does not a Broadway show make.

Hell, I havent' seen the broadway or a theatre version yet, but I can't wait to do so... I saw the movie at the movie theaters and I was amazed... of course a theatre version is probably better, but the movie conveys a lot of emotion and tons of feeling, and I love it... in fact, we're playing that movie tonight at a lock-in.... it's great.:p

I adore that movie. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I do.
I'm sure the broadway show is better, but I haven't seen it yet (due to lack of sufficient funds). I intend to see it when I can, though.

Back in the day, my ex and I loved RENT so much we had at one point learned all of the words to it... we used to play a game with eachother where we would pick a random (somewhat common) word and then find that word in the words to RENT and see who would be first to sing the relevant section.... anyone want to try me?
(How gay am I?)
Also, everyone knows it's basically (well sort of) the same story as Puccini's opera La Boheme right? (all of the characters are similarly named, the plot is kind of the same etc etc ... the "song" that Roger writes is one of the main themes from the opera etc etc ....) God rest Jonathan Larson, don't get me started ...

I put the 2nd disc in yesterday afternoon while I was cooking dinner. my bf came home and the "documentary" was on. We just couldn't turn it off. we were glued to the screen. what an amazing phenomenon. we could barely pull ourselves away to do the things that had to be done for the evening.

I have seen it on broadway a number of times and can infact sing most of the words.
I was slightly disappointed with the movie however still "needed" to own it! :D
