I might end up having to go there sometime...does anyone know what it's like? It sounds alright, since it is a boys shelter...I can't complain, if it's the only place I can go then I will; can't always get what you want, you know.

If it is a detention shelter you won't like it much. Don't go in with a chip on your shoulder and that might help.
If it is a shelter for wayward youth it's not bad but they are very different from one to another. I was a house parent and I have hated teenagers ever since.
We had a pretty rough group though.
If it is a shelter for abused kids, they are there to support and help you.

My grandma's too old to take custody of me and my mom's either not getting our calls or ignoring us. My dad-with all due respect-has lost it (I had a post on this once, so if any of you guy's remember it then this is pretty much Act II). If I follow through on the proceedings and win then custody will be placed in someone else's hands (I guess I can't have it...who says the law is infallible?o_O), and right now the Boy's shelter seems better than to have some stranger taking me in. I wanted to just stay with my grandma (we recently moved into an apartment) because I feel secure and feel that I help her out every day whenever I can.
I can't type anymore.

I'm sorry Drew.
:(:(:(
There are age restrictions on custody?? Can they be waived in case of 'extenuating circumstances?' Can your grandma consult with a lawyer to find out?
I really have no advice for you - I don't know anything about the shelter, or about custody laws, or anything. But I hope that you find a safe place to be and soon. I forget how old you are. 16?

DrewCaine,
I am so concerned for you! Your situation is no different than many like us around the nation! Why! If my parents ever found out, I would be kicked out and hated by all my family. This nightmare permeates my dreams, it never leaves my mind.
Your post eminate a feeling of sadness that overbears me. I am praying for you, God Bless You! God loves you for who you are, I know people around you, say no that. But it is true, believe me.
