I saw the film at a private screening over the xmas holiday. I was with family...we discussed the film and all felt it was handled extremely well
for a delicate subject.
I have ordered 2 DVDs. One for my library and the other for my assistant
(straight) who wanted to revisit the film after seeing it in a theatre twice. And she is Catholic with husband & children. She also has a gay brother in a relationship of several years. She is very middle america and can not understand what all of the fuss was about. Of the protesters, she said they should get a life and see the film and learn something..... instead of being afraid to venture outside their little box. I agree.

My partner pre-ordered a copy form "10%." He got a notice last week that it had shipped. I am really looking forward to seeing it again.

Yes Yes Yes- Three Times Yes

Saw the film after reading the short story: it hit a nerve- I cried and cried.

The film wasn't just a great adaption, it captured the essence of the story. The 'added' scenes- those not in the short story- only gave greater depth to the piece.

Brokback was one of those films that stayed with me for about three days afterwards, coloring all my perceptions and conversations. One, with a straight gym buddy, surprised me: he was disappointed that there wasn't more of a obvious emotional and physical relationship between the two characters woven throughout. He wanted more! For me that said it all.

There is- at least for a growing number of people- the appreciation of the truth of Relationship.

I think I agree with your gym buddy that I would have liked a little bit more emotion in their relationship, but maybe it could be argued that this approach shows their difficulty in showing emotion for each other due to society's restrictions or something to that effect.

I really like the movie and the ending left me so moved that I was speechless. I'll probably buy it because it was so moving. Also, I'm trying to compile a personal collection of movies with positive gay themes, so it'll probably be there.
