I am a lesbian and a Christian. I have followed Mel from his days at the Cathedral of Hope to now.

I have enjoyed reading the posts on board and am glad to join in the discussions.

I find it very sad that so many of our GLBT are so cynical of the church. We have every right to be. Yet, I believe that Christ taught a different truth of God than the modern fundamental church teaches. A truth of compassion and justice...love God with all you heart and love others as yourself...simple clear-cut and no stipulations. Come to the table just as you are.

I also wish to be a part of fellow travellers in talking about Christ just as I am...a lesbian.

First off, welcome to the forums! It's good to see that you've realized that critical distinction that many GLBT are angry at the Church in its current state and not at the teachings of Christ themselves. Unfortunately, many are left feeling hurt after having been raised in the Church (*raises hand*), but it is good that we are able to fellowship and converse here together. I'm not too active on forums, though, and if I consider myself a Christian right now I'd call myself an Interfaith one, but feel free to jump on in the conversations or start your own!

Welcome to Soulforce, Meo. I agree with you that many LGBT have bitter feelings toward the church. I belong to a Christian LGBT fellowship that is reaching out to LGBT people with the gospel of Jesus. God loves us unconditionally.
