come out? (http://www.afterellen.com/people/2007/12/jodiefoster)

In a surprising and moving speech on Tuesday, Jodie Foster, 45, thanked "my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss" when she accepted the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th annual Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast.
The award is named after the former chief of Paramount Pictures, Sherry Lansing, who told the Associated Press (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hYxu9ROqT-SPwNYpWqEByK94y13wD8TB3B4O0) that she was "overwhelmed to be presenting it to Jodie."
The L.A. Daily News (http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_7636463) reporter covering the event, Greg Hernandez, noted surprise "at the public acknowledgment of who I presume is Cydney Bernard, the woman who is widely reported to be her life partner," because Foster has always been "so intensely private."

read the whole article. The evidence is there, I guess we're just waiting for Jodie to say the words.

I read that today. And her two children are named with a first name and then "Bernard Foster" almost as a combining last name. This is about as out as she' been. The write up on afterellen.com included a couple of pictures of the two of them together, one at an event and another with the two children.

Jodie may as well come on out and shut that door behind her!

She came out via "gaydar" many years before. I know she's private which is GREAT in Hollywood, after all, the tabloids are all over the place in peoples lives.

What surprised me was that I have always read her as a soft-butch type, like my life partner, and it surprised me that she would carry their children. Not to delve into sterotypes too much, but it seems that the femme carries more often, from what I have noticed. However, that is the awesome thing about have a lesbian relationship, if one can't or does not want to carry, there is another partner who can give it a go.

I am absolutely crazy about her. Have been most of my life. It does read like the closest she has ever come to being out completely, although we have all long suspected and wished for it. It would do so many emerging gay persons hope, I think, because she is so visible. I read an interview she did in "More" magazine about 2 months ago, and that read like a bit coming out as well. She still looks tremendous, and vulnerability is SOOOOOO sexy!!!!!:lol::love:

... you can't have all the intriguing women.

You don't mind, I hope, that I will keep my fantasies about Jodie alive. Although, Jodie being lesbian - that would explain why my love has gone unrequited - I'm sure there'd be no other reason. Cough! Splutter!

It seems Jodie hasn't quite found her voice yet after all. Not sharing basic information with reporters is her choice of course, I just wish she could claim who she is like Ellen DeGeneres, Suze Orman, or Rosie O'Donnell. Jodie is on the cover of today's issue of Parade (http://www.parade.com/articles/editions/2008/edition_03-16-2008/1Jodie_Foster).

Jodie, who never married, has two sons: Charles Bernard Foster, 9, and Kit Bernard Foster, 6. She worries about them and the effect her life will have on them.

"I do what I can," she says. "We try not to go out at night or go places where there'll be 20 photographers. I try to minimize their exposure to assaults."

The same goes for herself. She will not address long-standing rumors about her sexual orientation or name her sons' father. When asked about her personal life, she fidgets and turns wary.

...

Jodie has never admitted to any romantic involvements. When I asked why she has not yet fallen in love, she gets irritated and explains, perhaps disingenuously, "Oh, my life is basically from the head up. I'm definitely not proud of that. I'm very analytical."

This past December, she opened the window slightly on her emotional commitments by publicly acknowledging her longtime friend, Cydney Bernard, at a Women in Entertainment breakfast in Los Angeles. Speaking about her, Jodie said: "My beautiful Cydney sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss." The middle name of both of Jodie's sons is Bernard.

Well, she may not be as out as some of us, which is a shame, but she is maybe just private. I think the fact that she has names her sons middle name with the last name of her "long time friend" and thanked her after getting an Oscar speaks volumes to us.

I know there are some people that are very private , my wife is. She does not wish to hold hands in public even at Pride festival. She is private and very modest so that is how she is. Even when she dated men, she did not hold his hand in public either. I can barely get her to wear a bathing suit to the beach. So, she may wish to just keep it private for her sons and partner because we see what the Hollywood community does to families there. They follow them and harrass them and it just causes problems for the children.

I don't blame her for sheltering her family and if that makes her not voice the fact she is a lesbian so be it. She owes them first. Besides, isn't it sad that we have to pursue her and find out weather she is or not?

I loved that movie. I remembered that one movie she was in as a teen, about the girls who bet to lose their virginity at camp. I think it was called "Little Darlings" I could not take my eyes off her then and had such a crush on her. I think I was 14 years old or so. I have always thought she was really hot.
