How about my 'perfect' day as my usual day isn't too exciting?? I'll keep it realistic...
I leisurely wake up to kisses and coffee, say around 8am...
After getting ready, my partner and I load up the dogs and head to my trainers ranch, where I ride my horse and the dogs have a fun romp.
We stop at the vegetable stand and pick up some tomatoes, avocados, onions, and whatever else might look good, then some dried peas to munch on the way home.
We stop at Hollywood video and rent 2 or 3 flicks, and pick up some sashimi for dinner to go with the tomato and avocado salad.
I get to talk on the phone with my grandma, then a few of my friends, and finally my favorite sister. My partner fixes dinner while I set the table. We eat and chat about our week.
She fixes a fire, we watch movies, have some hot tea later, snuggle and stay warm. The animals are laying in the room too, look mighty cute.
We stay up to watch all 3. Then off to bed (omit this part...:p), and then lazily fall asleep and have incredible dreams.
There are other perfect days, but this one would hit the spot at the moment.

My most favorite days are when I am home with my partner and our daughter, just the three of us and all of our pets (five cats, one dog, fish, and guinea pig). Days when we have no real agenda. We curl up and watch movies together, eat popcorn, cook, decorate for Christmas, clean, play music, just BE, TOGETHER. This weekend, we decorated the whole inside of the house for Christmas, put up our tree, hung up our stockings, and this weekend, we are going to wrap gifts, and bake cookies. Our daughter is growing up so fast, we don't want to miss a moment. The more time that the three of us have together, the better we all like it!!!!
Great idea Jen!!
P.S. The only detail I would add would be romantic slow dances in the kitchen with my partner, plenty of wine in the house, candles, and snow falling outside!!!

Woke up, a few kisses, put on coffee.
Showered and got ready, downed a cup of coffee. Picked up 2 friends and went to lunch. Dropped them back at work (I have the day off).
Off to Kaiser to get my twins smashed (mammogram...great fun).
Home, picked up sweetie, off to Costco, dinner, toy store and Target.
Home to wrap a few gifts for tomorrow, do some house cleaning.
Now flossing and on SF.
See, nothing too exciting. Going back to the 'perfect' day now!

Some days don't go as planned.
I had errands to run yesterday and wound up not doing any of them. Why? I reached into one of our two small closets to get a shirt (NYC apartments don't have enough of them), brushed against the narrow shoe rack that is built to the ceiling, and 8 pairs of shoes fell on my head.
A friend had built it a few years ago, and while we've had a some problems with the way the shelves were held up, I never took the time to make them more secure (the holes that were drilled to hold the metal supports were a tad too big- thus- the supports have had a tendency to come loose- knock one loose a domino effect occurs).
There is nothing like a rain of shoes falling on your head to get your attention. Within 10 minutes, after a great deal of cursing, I had everything out of the closet and tools at the ready. It took me another 3 hours to get everything worked out: new supports and a better organized space.
Why do we only seem to fix things after disaster has struck? Is this the way it will be with global warming? A Social Security meltdown? The mortgage on our future that will come due with the zillions we've spend on Iraq?
It seems we'd rather let things do, shut the door, pretend everything is alright, when, in fact, it isn't. What is it about human nature that makes us so self-deluded?
No one gave me a prize for getting things together, but I can now stand in the middle of that tiny space (4 X 3 1/2) and know where everything is. That's reward enough.
Oh yeah....I'm giving a lot of stuff away. Decided that if I hadn't worn something for a year it was going to Housing Works. They do good stuff for people with AIDS.

I hear ya Daniel. I'll put off until something happens that makes me HAVE to do it! Shoes hitting your head will do the trick. Great idea to donate to Housing Works. Every year I go through my clothes, shoes and other items and see what I figure won't wear much again and donate.
Z, I floss every night. I'm a flossing freak and have an entire routine each evening for my teeth & gums. Mean to keep 'em as long as I can! Face gets a good workout too!

Don't feel to bad Daniel... my sister and I share a closet that isn't much bigger then yours... and shoes falling on my head isn't enough to make me clean up the mess, if things fall on my head I toss them back up.

Today I dragged my butt out of bed at 7 am, jumped in the shower, did the coffee thing, kissed my sweetie goodbye, and hit the road! I was off to see my dear friend Deb graduate from UNC-Greensboro (thats University of North Carolina for those who aren't in the south!)!!! She is a wonderful lesbian friend who has given me much inspiration and support this past year. She is 42, and just earned her Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Woohoo!! Go Deb!! I am a little jealous because I still have a year and a half before I get to graduate with my masters degree in social work. But still it was nice to see some folks on that end of the learning experience!! I had the priviledge of meeting her new girlfriend, a nice chick from Canada (or Canadia as I like to refer to it as). I sat through a mind-wrenching 3 and a half hours of boring commencement B.S. (that's NOT short for Bachelor's of Science), and passed the time by making fun of the speaker (who was so horrible that by the time he was 25 minutes into it he was being mocked by the crowd... now believe me when I say that I am a very forgiving listener and I try hard to pay attention... but he had lost me too!! it was bad. BAD!), and by being impressed by the guy who was pronouncing every one of the graduates' names. After sitting around for 3 and a half hours just to cheer our brains out for Deb for 1 minute (I video-recorded it... it was 1 minute!!!), we headed to the reception and on to dinner. I had a lovely dinner with Deb, her g/f, her ex, her friend David, and her parents. Her parents are so great!! They are in their 60's, retired, but still going strong!! They are addicted to the online game called "World of Warcraft"... something I play as well, but am not as addicted to. It was a hoot to hear 60-somethings ramble on about computer tech stuff, and online gaming stuff!!! what a trip!! So after hugs and congratulations and goodbyes, I drove 2 hours back home. I had a hard time keeping my eyes open, so I talked to Ginny (my partner) and then my sister on the cell phone. I tried not to speed because there are about 5 speed traps on my way home!! Once I got home, I ran in the door, grabbed the dogs, tossed them in the back of my xterra, and raced to the dog park before it got too dark and the park would close. we made it just in time! We spent about 20 minutes there, and the dogs had a blast! freyja, our younger dog, is learning how to fetch, and both dogs just had a great time romping around and stretching their little doggie legs :) It warmed my heart to look in the rear view mirror afterwards and see the look of happiness and excitement on their faces. When Daizy has done a lot of running around and she is panting, she looks like she's smiling.. its really cute. Dogs are so freakin' awesome!!! Then we got home, I changed into sweats and a tshirt, cleaned up the living room so when Ginny gets home we can wrap presents together, and then I hopped online.
Now I'm enjoying getting to know you folks at SF, my dog Daizy is snoring on the couch beside me, my toes are warm because I put socks on, and I'm waiting for the love of my life (*ahem* Ginny) to call and tell me she's on her way home!
A simple day, but a good day. Life is good!
Thanks for the idea for this thread, jennifer! I needed to rehash the good parts of my day!!

First, I wake up and roll over, contemplating whether or not to leave the warm confines of my bed and venture into the wolf den of the college campus... Then, I contemplate how hungry I am. Am I sort of hungry? Very hungry? How many Doritos did I eat last night while studying?
If I don't go back to sleep, I get out of bed and look around to see if my shoes and meal card are in plain view. If they're not, then I throw aside clothing, papers, etc. until I find them. Eventually, I go and eat breakfast, which, admittedly, often consists of less than healthy choices. (Caffiene, donuts, crappy cereal). I usually like to eat breakfast at the table overlooking the pond at Gordon, or sometimes I take my breakfast to the learning center and chat with Ann, the academic support director as she starts her day. (Sometimes I pester her but she loves me anyway. And, vice versa.)
Then, while I'm doing homework in the library, I contemplate the meaning of my existence, miss my two best friends, and contemplate my greater contribution to the world. Sometimes I ask other people what the meaning of life is and get varying responses : "Sex and money," "To glorify God and be happy with him for eternity," "being happy," "I know but I'm not going to tell you," or, "uhhhhh....I don't know...that's kind of deep...I'm just trying to finish my homework..."
I usually take a break and go online to check my email periodically, where I also do a lot of catalogue shopping. After that, I usually go and practice singing and music reading for at least an hour, but it's usually broken up into smaller intervals.
Basically, it's a repeat of those things till I get back to my dorm and watch (Oh, the horror!) Bill O'Reilly at 8 PM, and do more homework, until I put my noise muffler on, do homework, take tylenol Pm, Kava kava, or melatonin, and turn in for the night.
(This course of events is usually what happens when I'm stressed, not when I'm not, but since I'm usually stressed, there've been a lot more of those days lately.)
