I liked this film: I thought it did a good job of showing the discrimination faced by LGBT people and made the important point that it is not what you do in your personal life, but who you are and how you act, that counts. What did you guys think?

That was as far as I got, way too cheesy for me. I'd heard it was bad, but I didn't realize it was cheap 'n cheesy bad.
The gag where Sandler was trying to get his girlfriend to lock lips with her twin grossed me out (they didn't), on more than one level. Then the fire truck scene where you can see city buildings passing by looked like green screen technology from the seventies. Then they get to the fire, and the flames are all in perfectly contained little bunches peppered throughout the house. Then they go to rescue the fat guy who's fat suit looked like little more than a Michelin Man mock up.
Can you tell I've been holding this in for awhile?
I'm glad you liked it though, especially for the reasons you stated. I figured there was an audience for it, and that perhaps a younger teen, possibly pre-teen audience might get into it for the gags, but walk away with some insight, however unknowingly.
So, sorry Progo, I hated it. But I support you. :D

Truth be told, I found the concept patently offensive. I've heard a lot of...lukewarm reviews about how, given how it looks like it should be, it wasn't that bad, but...sometimes things just make me angry really easily, so I had no desire to pay money to find out whether or not I'm going to be offended.

haven't seen it, not sure I cared, and now probably won't bother.
If you are looking for a decent recent flick - try Gray Matters. Well acted, sensitive yet not shy. Excellent movie with a few laughs and possibly a tear or two.

Going off of Emproph's post, the one part I didn't like about the movie was the part with the fat guy, especially since I once had a dear friend who suffered from massive morbid obesity and it wasn't funny. Besides, laughing at obese people is just another form of prejudice. But, other than that, it was good.
I haven't see that movie, U Dog. Is it coming out on DVD soon?

I really liked it. But I see where you would greatly dislike it if you can't handle the really cheesy movies. But to be fair, you did know it was Adam Sandler in it, right? (Adam Sandler is only good at one thing, playing stupid, his other movies turn out horribly)
I thought it was really cute though and sent across a good message.

Molly Shannon to Heather Graham after a very stressful incident:
Get out of your head and into your body
Get out of your head and into your body
Get out of your head and into your body
I had to rewind that one several times. The whole thing was a good show, but that was one particularly good gag, and edifying at that.

Fun E! My partner is always telling me to get out of my head and into my body! I try, I try but I don't always succeed. :o
