I find biographies terribly dull, so I shall contrive to rip through this as fast as possible for the sake of your attention spans.

I am a seventeen year old secular humanist, existentialist, agnostic (not the cowardly apologetic politically correct sort of agnostic, the sort of agnostic who challenges nuns on matters of theology); I am a student, an activist, a Kinsey 5 (or "lesbian with wiggle room", as I prefer to refer to myself; my father is a lawyer, and I've learnt to never commit fully to anything, especially not what I label myself). I read voraciously. I am liberal by politics, contentious by nature (read: will argue with other liberals for fun). I do not like long walks on the beach.

And on to a question: Forgive my ignorance, if ignorance it be and not mere oversight, but how do I get involved with Soulforce when the nearest chapter is a three-hour drive away? Is there going to be an Equality Ride this year, and if so, where do I sign up? Apologies again, but I am borderline computer illiterate, and could not find a page addressing these queries.

And now, a line of smiley faces.

;):D:o:):(:confused::mad::p:rolleyes::cool::eek::l ol::'(:love::pray:

if you are 17, and understand all that about yourself, and like to argue, YOU are going to fit in nicely around here! :D welcome to our forums!

:D What a great hello note. :D

You will probably enjoy it here, then. I find an intellectual argument fun, too, on occasion. Mostly though, I do enjoy long walks, beach or no beach, and am thinking that a walk on the beach may be just the thing to do right now (since this is my last day ON the beach, visiting the gulf coast.)

All that to say, welcome. :p

I don't know about signing up for the E Ride. I suggest contacting SF staff, and let them point you in the correct direction. Somewhere on this site there's a staff page, contact one or more of them and let them tell you how to get involved in the Ride.

I don't have any answers to your questions, but I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the way you've come across. You seem very intelligent for a seventeen year old. I'm nineteen, so I'd like to think I have an idea of the average intelligence rate of somone your age. Anyway, I guess welcome to the Soulforce forums.

Did anyone ever label you GT (gifted and talented) If they didn't, they were blind, deaf and generally stupid. Wow! You sound profoundly interesting. However, I must disagree with you on biographies being boring. Some bios are very interesting. I love finding out what makes people the way they are. It is rather intriguing. So are you.

Always question and always be eager to learn. You are brilliant! Welcome to the forums. We will give you a lot to chew on...

A hearty welcome to Soulforce. You do sound very interesting. I find myself wanting to meet you for coffee and have hours of good conversation.

It is good to have an agnostic on the board. We need some balance for all the rabid theists on the board

:D welcome lesbian with wiggle room. I took that test 2x and got a different number each time(took it about 3 years apart) If that doesn't underscore the inconsistancies of human sexuality, I just don't know what does!

So welcome to soulforce and it does my heart good to know that the next generation is ripping off those darned closet doors on their way to adulthood.

Welcome, glad to have you here!

I have one question, what is there not to like about long walks on the beach?

As of this point in time, I don't know of any plans for a 2008 Equality Ride, but if anything comes up you'll see it here... http://www.soulforce.org/equalityride

Also, at any point, you'll see at the very to of this website's page, something that says "Sign-up to Receive Soulforce Alerts", if you enter your email address then anytime Soulforce has big news (such as an Equality Ride) they will send an email out to everyone.

Hope you enjoy the site. :)

Ah, well, I grew up in New York City, where the beaches are littered with refuse, needles, and the grotesquely obese in bikinis. I'm afraid they spoiled beaches for me.

Agreed. The radical homo in me says that labeling one's sexuality is just a diabolical breeder plot to divide the minority orientations into warring factions.

I am so sorry these bad experiences ruined beaches for you, but if you have ever been to South Florida or Waikiki or the South Pacific, I think it will give you a whole different perspective. Clean, white pristine sand, turquoise blue water that you can see clear down to the bottom, ahhhh, give me that any day... with my wife of course! Gotta love it.
