with many of us about to give and receive presents, I thought it might be fun to start a thread about the good gifts we receive, or give to others.

so here's the place to post about the best gift, or most original gift, or most thoughtful gift you receive. You can also tell us about a special gift you plan on giving.

I'll start: my choir gave me new floor mats for my car. I needed them, and they are perfectly suited for me. There was no way they could know I needed them either, so it was a total surprise.

My father is going to be celebrating his 80'th birthday on New Year's Day, and I am writing him a letter, letting him know how much I love him and appreciate and value all the things he has taught and done for me over the years. And we're not simply talking about 'stuff' here, but rather, those attributes which give one character, focus and joy. I want to let him know that his hardships and sacrifices are not for naught. He has had life-long heart problems, and you just never know how long those we love with be with us and this side of the aisle.

Every moment we have is another opportunity to love.

Oh yeah....my mother is getting her's too.... She's more the fundi. But ya know what? Love doesn't recongnize any differences.

My mantra this season?

Give what you want to have. Lots of love. It's the only game in town. And the streets are paved with gold.

Hubby? I can't wait to see the expression on his face on what I found at the flea market. Santa baby!

last night, I was driving home and saw a tv on the sidewalk with a sign "Free to Good Home" I drove back around, loaded it in my car (32" screen) and brought it home. I tried, oh how I tried to pass it off as my gift to Scott. He just had too many questions! I had to show him the signs
looks like the color is going, but it will work well in the kids' room and for their video games. I really need to be counting my blessings this year, I've gotten plenty in just the last few days!

now that I've given it, I can talk about it here. I gave my daughter a theme gift, and the theme was France. I bought an Eiffel tower ornament, a French horn ornament, and a dress form ornament with some feathers and beads. I gave her a picture calendar of Paris, a French chocolate bar, a print of a drawing of the Statue of Liberty as it was being constructed in Paris, and a CD of Christmas Carols sung in French. There was also a 5 dvd set of Audrey Hepburn movies (two with a french theme) and a toy "Fifi in the Box" the plays Alouette, and has a French poodle that jumps out of the box.

how gay is that?

she loved it.
