Well, I thought I might like to vote in the primary, so I tried to change my political party affiliation (from independent) so that I could. But things didn't exactly go smoothly.

Just had to vent. I'm not sure the form I mailed is going to be processed.

Of course, it would not be fully operational on the last day to complete the process. I need to go make sure I am registered at my current address so i don't have any problems here. I am not even sure when our primaries are in PA.

Zerb,
I voted (and don't faint) Republican in the 2004 election. Do I have to go thru some kind of legality in order to change my affiliation? I want to vote but not Republican. Is it something I need to be working on?

That's going to depend on what you're talking about. In Arizona, only registered party members may vote in a presidential primary election. I was registered as independent, which meant I was ineligible to vote, so I (hopefully it went through) changed my registration to reflect a party affiliation. That way I can vote in the primary. I believe it's true that in order to vote in the democratic primary, your party affiliation has to be democrat, and vice versa to vote in the republican primary. Because you are voting to select which candidate will represent that party by being the presidential nominee.
Check out your state regulations PNG. I don't know when the TX primary election is, but if you wish to change your party affiliation that needs to be done well in advance of the election. Usually about a month before you'll run into a deadline. So check with your attorney general or your county recorder to find out if you need to change your registration, and if so, when the deadline is.
