We had snow, so school got cancelled. I had a few projects I wanted to complete, so I did that with my unexpected holiday.

I made a decoration for our front door (see the first pic) and then I made a card for my soon-to-be hubby. the card has a tag that pulls out from the floral heart. The tag shows a greek statue on a transparency, and beneath it you can see "love is written on our hearts" ever so vaguely behind the image.

go ahead, say it. he will when he gets the card. "You're SOOOO Gay"

You really are so gay!!! But I love you anyway, boo! There are so many like you and it is so romantic to say the least.

You just go right ahead and be as gay as you can be. I think it is sweet and if he doesn't like it, he's just weird. But I know he will.;)

And gay too! Your creations bring to mind that song sung by Ella Fitzgerald.....

You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To

Verse:

It's not that you're fairer
Than a lot of boys just as pleasin'
That I doff my hat
As a worshipper at your shrine
It's not that you're rarer
Than asparagus out of season
No, my darling, this is the reason
Why you've got to be mine

Chorus:

You'd be so nice to come HOME to
You'd be so nice by the fire
While the breeze on high, sang a lullaby
You'd be all that I could desire

Under stars chilled by the winter
Under an August moon burning above
You'd be so nice
You'd be paradise, to come home to and love

Hubby presented my with a book I've been longing for for weeks- in fact- it came at 8 AM this morning (the buzzer rang and I didn't hear it) and hubby wrapped it up in pink paper and gold ribbon (while I went out- thinking he was still sleeping- and brought back a bundle of flowers) and we surprised each other at breakfast.

We're going out to dinner later....

And guess what? As I was writing this post, the buzzer rang again (I heard it this time) and there was a package from Lynchburg, Va. "What could this be?" I thought.

A note from Mel White and Gary Nixon with Candy Kisses!

To which I reply:

May the Circle of Love called Soulforce grow ever larger, deeper and wider! And may the the love that you have for each other be Evermore.

I couldn't decide where to post this, since both threads have had responses. Daniel, what a lovely reciprocal sentiment/expression of love you and hubby had this morning, without the other knowing! It is hard to surprise me, but today our daughter surprised me with a hand painted wooden box, with hearts attached, and filled with heart shapes. Also, a cozy microfleece blankie that I have been wanting, from my honey, pink with hearts all over it. And, my honey also made me a great homemade Valentine. Our love feels more strong than ever before, and we feel blessed. She got chocolates and stuffed red striped zebra- her favorite!!

:love::love::love::love::love::love::love::love::l ove::love:

And, Daniels says it best: may our love circle continue to grow and spread as big and as wide as possible. I feel blessed to have all of you as part of my life.

So do you present the creation to your sweetie tonight??
I am amazed at the amount of time it must have taken to put that together! Man - that's awesome!

That's so romantic and so wonderful! I love the idea of a red zebra! (Y'all know 'bout me 'n plushies.) So is he red and black, instead of white and black?

Amen, Danny and Vanessa. This is the most wonderful group, just ever!

Happy Valentine's Day to one and all.

Awww, red n white!
I want a picture of your zebra!

Time together rocks.

Speakin' of V Day plushies - just made a run to the grocery store, the same evil grocery store that stocks James Dobson's books AND an unlimited supply of irresistible teddy bears (this being the store where Paul Bear/Pablo Bear came from), and sure 'nuff. ANOTHER irresistible little bear was nestled behind the piles of cut roses. I HAD to take him out of the store with me.

Right now he's in a little pink bag, covered with turquoise tissue paper, and he will ride in that bag all the way to work where I will present him to hubby. Speaking of work, I'm nearly late.

I got 3 carnations from kids at school. For two weeks, the PTO has been selling carnations for $2 each, and the kids can purchase them at lunch and on Valentine's Day they are given to the homeroom teacher to pass out at the party. My kids are sweet.

That's so romantic! This has been a terrific Valentine's Day. :D

Driving home tonight I saw several individuals walking to/from bus stops, etc., carrying pink and red decorated gift bags. I was like, Awwww! :p:love:

I don't remember ever noticing Valentine's this much in past years. This was awesome. :)

 I love LOVE!!!

My sweetie totally surprised me this morning with a card (perfect card from her) and a gift. As I opened the box, I realized it was probably a ring. Then I opened the ring box and inside was nestled the most beautiful, sparking, perfect diamond ring! I was actually speechless (and if you don't quite know me yet, that is definitely an accomplishment!). I couldn't not have picked out a better, lovelier and more perfect ring for me myself.

She actually isn't the most romantic thing, which made it even more special. I should have known something was up, I got a million extra kisses when she woke me up to get ready for work.:D:love:

No 'marriage' proposal yet (from either one of us) but I think we are going to get domestically partnered soon.

awesome card Steve! You are talented, perhaps you could teach Hallmark a thing or two. It isn't always easy to shop for cards that work for us huh? The perfect solution, DIY. You are a sweetie!

hmmmm, I thought diamond ring automatically meant marriage proposal. I'll have to check the homosexual manual and see what the translation is.

It is a white gold band with baguette diamonds (my fav) and then a row of very tiny diamonds bordering top and bottom of the baguettes. Simple yet gorgeous. Not blaring in your face, but a nice subtle elegance and class. It's absolutely what I would have picked out for myself, but even better.

Yes, it was an awesome surprise! I'm the lucky one! It's going back to the store tomorrow to get sized for my finger (it's a wee bit too small). So I won't actually be wearing it for a week or two. Maybe I'll take a pic and post... I'm still kinda blown away by it!

Scheisse, yeah. Even married and buying cards for DH, I still notice that. When will we start seeing cards for gay couples make their way into mainstream stores? Maybe that's still a time off. I bet there's a website somewhere selling 'em though. Maybe one of the groups like HRC has some in its store??

Yes, definitely post a picture before you send it back to the store!

How wonderful. Oh yeah, getting a diamond ring does blow one away. I'll never forget how, when I first got mine, I developed a sudden habit of STARING AT MY FINGER!!

Tdogg's to do list: 1. take/post picture. 2. pop question.

Sound like I'm barking up the right tree??

Well, see, she has this 4.5 year thing. Where her previous two long-term relationships started falling horribly apart at about 4 and 1/2 years. Now, neither of us have any qualms about that happening, but I did tell her we should wait until the day after 4.5 years (which would be May 2009) to get officially hitched as in 'marriage'. Meanwhile we'll get domestically registered here in CA to at least give us some protections. And keep our fingers crossed that the next Gov will actually sign the marriage equality bill.

We've been talking about getting rings, more to demonstrate our commitment to each other and to always keep each other in our hearts when travels keep us physically away (I travel a LOT for work). And, in a small way, she's kinda marking her territory...;)

We've talked about making it official in Canada someday, although I've always envisioned standing on the beach in a flowing simple dress, barefoot and reading the vows I created myself to her.

Then do both.
It's settled, then.

Well, May of 2009 sounds good. And I agree with keeping rings as totems of your relationship for during travel - like a way of always having your partner with you.

T,
I agree with you about the committment thing first. I mean, you gotta know where you are going with this. She can mark her territory and if you are in the territory to stay then maybe in 2009, you two can move toward an official thing. I think the ring was terribly romantic and beautiful. Yes, show us pics. Gotta see it. To me, she is serious and wants you to know that.
Mine got me a necklace, roses and the most beautiful card. But marriage is serious thing and I want you to be happy with her, so take it slow and work it out, girl. A ring is a lovely way to start. Best of luck and send us an invitation!:)

We are in our fourth year together. Neither of us can imagine life without each other. I can barely remember life alone! Yet, we both have our own lives, lived within our lives together? That's what makes it so wonderful (well, part of what makes it anyway). It's been an interesting 3+ years for me with huge personal growth. I feel that I'm finally getting to the point where no matter what I say or do, she'll be there for me. She is so supportive, compassionate and loving, and of course understanding (I like to think me too). We are both very committed to each other and our relationship. Plus we are highly compatible, and yes, there are amazing sparks & chemistry.

I think at this point, it's as married as it can be other than filling out the DM registration form. She feels that there is no option for an official wedding in this state, and the thought of traveling to another area (say, Canada) for some reason isn't all too appealing to her. Knowing her, I would say the ring represents what she feels she cannot give me at this time which is full-out official marriage complete with certificate. It took a lot for her to actually buy it and give it to me. It took me several minutes to get over the shock that she did this, before I could even take in the beauty of the actual ring. This was a HUGE step for my love!

I'm not sure I would feel more married than I feel now with a signed piece of paper and a wedding photo.
