Hey everyone :) Did anyone happen to read Dear Abby yesterday? The first letter might be of interest to you. It certainly hit me pretty hard. Here's a link to it: http://www.uexpress.com/dearabby/?uc_full_date=20060407

I pondered writing to Dear Abby about Confused in Georgia, and went ahead and did so this morning. I recommended Mel's book and this Web site...the best resources I have right now for my slowly-healing spirituality.

Here's a thought: because they can't print every letter they get, maybe if other people write, too, the chances of Confused in Georgia getting a message from one of us will be higher...?

Yes, this sound a little too familar to me, I could have written it myself. I am the same age as this guy and I am also not 'out'. While I don't have all the religious pressures that the writer expressed, that same fear of losing what little friends and family I do have is overwhelming.

Since I started college I have given it a lot of thought, and all this time I've been fearing being isolated and alone if I came out, but I now I realize I am already alone. The friends and family I have don't really know me at all, it's all really a phony existence, i've always been alone. I can't imagine being 'out' could feel any worse than I do now. But realizing this intellectually and actually living it are two different things.
