I was browsing the New Yorker -poetry/books-review and
Take My Bread-by Sara Miles captured me immediately, so I will get the book. I was born way back in 1932 in the Highlands of Scotland, my mother
was a Methodist, and had I never read the scriptures I would have wanted
what she had, this joyful, beautiful woman, who loved the Lord, was an elder of the Church, who read her bible daily and taught me its wisdom but most of all the transforming power of its author! I went down with Rheumatic Fever/St Vitas Dance/Bronchities at the age of 8 and never got
up out of the bed in the kitchen, under the stairs, for 3 years! I saw 12 seasons come and go from an optic window, I also saw a beautiful woman
on her knees night after night by the light of a dying peat fire, tear soaked cheeks, her coal black hair streaming her back to her waist like a waterfall.
'LORD jESUS CHRIST,'SHE PLEADED, 'PLEASE.PLEASE IF ITS THY WILL MAKE
MY BOY WHOLE, AND USE HIM WHAT WAY YOU WILL FOR YOUR GLORY'
Well, here I am at 76 years old! Were I to even give you a few of the stories
on my journey you would see something absolutely awesome. I left home
at 15 years old went to sea as deck boy apprentice sailed to Australia.
In short, I travelled to nearly every country on this tiny globe, did over
50 fields of employment and have published my poems in major journals and
news papers here and internationally. Spent two years down and out on the park benches and streets of Auckland. Married a young beautiful wife from Taiwan and we have a 4 year old beautiful boy who has Autism/Asperges syndrome. What I really wanted to say, on the 8
February 2007 having fought cancer/prostate/bladder and recently just
come from an emergency heart ward, with a problem.-I borrowed some
books from a church library-used books- and sadly one of them was in a box
i sold to a christian second hand book shop, they called the police and I was
charged with theft! My wife collapsed with a nervous breakdown and our little boy got worse. BROTHER/SISTERS on reading this, I walked away from
the Christian God of my mother, and became an atheist overnight! Amen

MANY KIND THOUGHT TO ALL OF YOU, i WAS MADE WHOLE! BUT GLORYIFY
gOD, ....I AM SORRY MUM.

how very kind and thoughtful of you to welcome me and my story.Thank you Genee
may many blessings fall upon you in abundance. The difference we have in our mode to
be-whatever way, is what the ignorant/unloving/unkind hate. The biggest oppressors
Religion! Those who seem to know exactly what God says and means!

much love and great to hear you.

Jethro,

Let me take a moment to say hello and welcome you to the forums. Thanks for letting us get to know you.

I agree with you totally. Some of the biggest obstacles to the spread of God's love in our world are the "religious" people, those who have manufactured a god who says exactly what they want him to. I believe that those who truly follow the ways of Christ will show it in the loving way that they treat others. (I had better not get started on this topic; I can rant on forever.)

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Tu Amigo, Pablo

Hi Pablo. when the gift of another day opens, i reflect on all my dobuts as to whether
God really'is' in the reading word, that is,in my heart and experiences,i could never
ever say there is not. You know what I mean Pablo I am sure, scripture mentions
out of the heart comes the evil of men, something like that, also, more important
ita also there where God wrote His word, and where He looketh as to the real depth
of a man, and I thank God for such wisdom to so do. Listen, wonderful to hear you're
'rants' time becomes a no thing when we talk of the things of God. Bless you Pablo.
Great to hear from you.

Hi Vanessa, may all good things enter you and you're house each morning. Thank the kind thoughts, usually at abou 11 pm here I find I am the only one on line reading
everybody, because its small hours where you are, and most are asleep. That is a large
question 'unearned suffering, redemptive' and much has been written about it. I try to
look beyond my area of pain and suffering Vanessa, and see the extraordinary kind
and beautiful things in people and nature, a sort of non-acceptance of adverse conditions, and a daily recognition of the good things I have in parts that still work
in my body, a joy in music, in art and most of all poetry, and being able to talk with
someone like you whom I have never met only by what we say and share. I do believe
as long as humans hold prejudices as to how another is, and usually because one
is different in his/her make up, mode of worship and so on...peace,lovecompassion
and acceptance in this world, will always be, the greates scourge Vanessa-religions.

Have a great day, beautiful name Vanessa.

love ya
