I WANTED TO JOIN THIS MOVEMENT FOR ALL THE TEENS AND ADULTS WHO I HAVE ADVOCATED FOR IN MY PRIVATE PRACTICE. I AM A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR IN THE STATE OF MISSOURI AND THERE IS A HUGE PREJUDICE AND TOTAL UNACCEPTANCE OF ANYBODY WHO IS NOT HETEROSEXUAL OR ANYBODY WHO DOES NOT LIVE A LIFE AS STATED BY RELIOUS MANDATE, I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BIBLE BELT AND IT IS VERY DISTRESSING TO ME TO SEE THE TEENS SUFFER WITH WHOM THEY ARE AND HOW THEY ARE OSTERIZED FOR BEING THEMSELVES. I HAVE COUNSELED A LOT OF GAY TEENS AND ADULTS WHO CANNOT COME OUT AND BE THEMSELVES IN SOCIETY HERE. THEY ARE LITERALLY MADE FUN OF AND DISOWNED BY THEIR FAMILIES IF THEY EVEN ATTEMPT TO "COME OUT" WITH THEIR BELIEFS AND THEIR SEXUAL PREFERENCES. I HAVE LOOKED FOR A ADVOCACY GROUP TO JOIN AND WORK WITH SO THAT I CAN BECOME A BETTER ADVOCATE FOR CIVIL RIGHTS AND CHANGE THE WAY THAT THE PEOPLE IN THIS AREA OF THE COUNTRY BELIEVE SHOULD NEVER BE CHANGED. I APPLAUD YOUR WORK AND WOULD REALLY LOVE TO APPLY TO OPEN A GROUP HERE IN CAMDENTON MISSOURI, I AM COMPLETING MY PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy and want to use my education to advocate for the children and teens and adults in families in my community. I would love to hear from other members and I am glad I have found you.

Seriously. Thank you for your advocacy. You will find many people here who certainly understand the price of coming out. I hope you will participate in our community and hope you'll also find this a place you can direct people you counsel as a place where they are free to be themselves.

We can always use more allies; thanks so much for your support. I am a LPC here in Pennsylvania. Although I have not counseled many youths or adults in the area of LGBT, I have personal knowledge as I am lesbian, and have been researching the topic for years. Too many of our youths kills themselves over this; it is a crime.

Being ostracized can be bad enough, but the last time I saw someone Osterized, well, he just couldn't seem to pull himself together, and finally he had to be poured down the toilet. - (I think someone pressed puree)

Yeah, I don't think that I could survive homophobia in the bible belt.

I read my post and I should be ashamed of my spellings of many words...However being a learning disabled PhD educated person I am humiliated. thanks for the feed back. My husband proof reads all my work but I thought I could write without his help...AS IF....And to think I am a professional writer...OK guys I deserved it but I am still going forth and advocating and working hard for my beliefs of civil rights. for all people including the disabled (dyslexic learning diabilites etc.) I have been in school for 11 years and I know men especially can let me have it hahaha...I thank you for your comments and I promise I will try to write as if I know what I am doing. To answer a question someone asked I have my Bachelor degree in Psychology My Master degree in Counseling and my Marriage and Family PhD dissertation coming up...UGH Sorry about the messed up post but hey I was excited to find the site and wanted to say something. Dyslexia sucks!!!!!Hope to hear from more of you I am working on opening a GLBT advocacy group here in Missouri and I need feedback on how to do it thanks deb Hope all words are readable I don't see a spell checker on here!
