Does anyone know of any good book(s) I could read to help with out relationship? We have been together two years but have some communication issues and I jsut wondered if anyone had any good suggestions how to communicate your needs and wants in a way that isn't destructive to my partner.

And I see that Paul has suggested one.

My suggestion is this: go see a really good therapist together. Experience tells me that you can't do this kind of thing alone- and I've in relationship to the same man for 15 years. In retrospect, some sessions with a therapist could have spared us some relationship drama: it really is all about communication- and how to communicate. But we learned the hard way: we saw someone it after we figured out we couldn't do it alone.

Banging one's head against a wall hurts. And having the same problem/issue over and over again is kinda like that.

An highly skilled objective party will be able to save you a lot of time and mental frsutration. Yes- it will cost you something. But the reward can be rich indeed.

Yes- we all know how to talk, but communication - and in intimate relatishionship with another human being- is a skill. Some of us have parental models which give us these skills. Most of us- I believe- do not. However, they can be learned.

I wish you much joy and happiness in your relationship.
