View Full Version : Feeling Proud of Myself

The pickup was running poorly, and being the frugal person that I am, I decided to try to fix it myself. I replaced the fuel filter after having to go online to find out where the darn thing was. (by the back passenger tire on an '87 Totota pickup in case you are wondering) That didn't help. I talked to Matthew and asked him if he knew vehicle repair. At that point I realized how futile it was for two gay guys to be discussing auto repair, definitely a no-win situation. (He was NO help, by the way.) I decided to replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires since that was the only other thing I knew how to do.

Went to the auto parts store where quite a group of men were gathered. It was straight guy territory for sure, sort of scary.

Anyway to get to the end of this story. The pickup is now purring like a kitten, just like when it was brand new. If we gay men can even succeed in the straight realm of vehicle repair, there is nothing we can't accomplish.

were any of those guys at the auto parts store cute? did you catch their eyes? did any of them stare a little longer than the others?

what color wires did you get for your car? ;)

seriously, I love being able to do a few things mechanically. I used to do my own brakes even! the last thing I did was replace a wiper blade.

go ahead, shatter that stereotype!

:lol::rofl::smashy:

And more to the point, did you replace the wires because they were dirty or an ugly color??

Gosh Pablo ... at this rate you are going to be a straight guy before you know it. You go girl!

Maybe you could pass for a lesbian!

I didn't know changing spark plugs would lead to all this.

Now I am all confused.

Maybe I should just dig the old spark plugs out of the trash and put them back in????

I am proud of you Pablo.

It is no small feat, no matter what gender we are, to fix automobiles for many of us.

And, for the record, this lesbian for one CANNOT do much more with a car than put in washer fluid, change light bulbs and check the oil.

YET, anyway.

However, I can repair a faucet, build a shed, cut down trees, renovate a house, and run a lawnmower......;)

Helping attach a garage to a trailer and move it to a different location last fall, now that was enmasculating.

I'm surprised you didn't get the wires crossed. Sorry, bad joke.
