Being Lesbian is worse than being Democrat

A very excellent attorney in the Department of Justice was fired by officials high up in the Justice Department because she was rumored to be lesbian:

The culprit (the official responsible for the firing) is Monica Goodling. This Monica was prominent in the hearings over the U.S. Attorney Firings--a scandal that played a big role in Attorney General Gonzales' resignation.

We learned in these earlier hearings that Monica Goodling was one of the many Fundamentalist Christian Republican "Bushies" put in important roles by this White House.

You'll find in the story an unnamed Republican saying "Being gay is worse than being a Democrat" in some of the power circles of the Republican Administration.

Many of the lesbians that I have met have shown themselves to be very competent at their work. Leslie Hagen seems to have shown herself to be very competent. I believe that the word that was chosen was "outstanding".

But if word ever gets out that this was the reason that she was assumed to be a lesbian, Monica and friends may find themselves in the position of winning the battle, but losing the war.

"Worse than a Democrat?" I may need a while to come up with a comeback for that one.

I find it very interesting that it has only come to light now, that this is a probable reason for her firing. Rumor, no less. And, also saddens me to think that a person is fired for such a rumor, but the person it is about feels the need to hide it, if it is indeed, true. And, if it isn't, to be used in that way is beyond disheartening and angering.

Assumptions have ruined many reputations. I hope that Ms. Goodling realizes that she could be open to a lawsuit.

Perhaps she should be sued.. Sometimes it seems that is the only way to get things across.
